While using the hold switch on your Ipod to keep it from coming on ,if you have it in your pocket & are not listening ,don't forget to switch it back to normal position when you are through using it for the day. The hold switch will drain a small amount of charge from the battery even with the player off. Occasionally, I will forget to do this & end up scratching my head as to why the player won't turn on after moving the switch back. Yup! gotta recharge the puppy now(as the light goes on in his head;isn't the power of recognition a wonderful thing.)

Rip your files in 192kbs AAC file. Save your HD space for more music and most importantly, save battery life. You probably wouldn't notice the difference from lossless....except for the fact you're able to play more music!!!

Not tell the difference?

yes, in portable music you will not tell a difference, unless you have a very, very good rig. for me, i use VBR V0. works wonders.

Build a playlist called New (or whatever). When you add new music to your iPod, add a single song to the New playlist to remind you what new music you have. I sometimes use iTunes while I am working at my computer and notice a couple of albums I haven't head in a while. I add a song from them to the New list for future reference.

Why does everyone assume that you haven't done any listening comparisons if you're using lossless. A few years ago I did ; The lossless sounds closer to what I hear from my home system(which I'm pretty happy with). In the end that is significant enough for me. Having more music that does'nt also sound great doesn't appeal to me. I'd just as well wait till I was home to listen to music, but I know I don't have to now.

Um... I could? Seriously, I think the sweet spot is 225K. This, I honestly could not tell the difference.

although i can tell the diff between flac and 128, and even vbr v0 (around 250) the diff was so small, i had to really really pay attention. i dont put that much attention in my listening all the time, so no point, especially for a small capacity player like my h10.

Rip all your music and encode with a lossless codec.
No need to worry about if they are transparent or not, ever again. WIth the benefit that you can transcode to different lossless codecs and keep they audio data 100% intact.

Pure bliss!

i encode at 192vbr for all my portable listening. i can tell the difference from 128, and it just seems like a solid bitrate balancing quality with spaec.

as it is, my 80gb is already full of 52gb of choons and i havent put everythign on it. some stuff is at the 220vbr range.
