Really? What don't the TH900's do that the D7000's do?

That's awesome. I may keep my eyes out for a great deal on a tube amp.

Th900 is superior in every aspect but d7000 was more musical imo. And the subass on d7000 is really fun and doesn't get tired.

Th900 has WoW bass at first but after 30 mins get boring.

I might buy another pair of th900 and send for the lawton mods.

nice! yes, they are some fun cans...picked up the th900 thinking that i'd sell the d7000, but ended up keeping both.

Did the same.  They sound different yet each has its own unique, enjoyable signature that I kept both.  Don't feel that D7K is in any way inferior to the TH900, they're just different.

Have used Lawton pads on both.  The extra space for the earlobes is a plus.

Maybe I will consider Zana Deux but in general I don't really like tube amp sounding.
Maybe Bakoon in one day :)

So what is it that would make someone pick a D7K over a TH900?  is it a price factor or a sound preference factor and how so with the sound?

that thru-lucent sound...as if the woodcups have fallen off..
(esp when u plug it into a T-amp, drivers a shaking, bass a rumbling..
that price...a no brainer...
and woods conquers lacquer, always.

ermmm.. caveat...i havent heard a 900,,lolz

Already have a D7000....its the number 1 headphone for the many people that have sampled my collections, for that reason alone it has a place as the headphone to impress people with.

If D7000 is $999 and TH900 is $2000 as their original retail price (not considering the inflation), I will go with D7000.
Cheapest brand new I found for D7000 was low $600 and $1199 for TH900, then I will still get D7000 but I don't think I will let go TH900 at that price, even at $1499 I will still get TH900. :)

Another alternative to D7000 is TH600 ? Never heard but people say it's as good or better than D7000 in the detail/clarity department.

Cons that I didn't mention about D7000 is that it has smaller soundstage then TH900 and treble is somehow harsh in many female vocal, so if is mainly for jazz,female voices then I will opt for TH900 or t5p.

D7000 = Pagani Zonda
TH900 = Pagani Huayra

hahaha, D7000 is more fun to drive but TH900 is superior in every level.  :)
