Yeah good word "visceral". With the right music and recording they can really touch you. My D7000's have about maybe 40 hours on them now. Man they are nice! Detailed mids and highs with nice lifelike bass. Just very realistic and pleasant to listen to. I was listening to Neil Young's Harvest the Japanese Import CD. WOW...I could hear everything and Neil never sounded so good.
I still am waiting for my Woo amp to come back from Woo Audio so I have been only listening through the sub-standard HP jack of my 15 year old Yamaha CD player.
The earpads look and feel like some kind of soft glove leather but it could be that really nice fake leather. No squeakiness and the cable doesn't seem microphonic to me at all.
