I think the reason they do that is to feed the signal to a fixed power amp (like the three different models in two different voltages they sell ), thereby using the preamp to control volume.

did you mean 10watts RMS?
Nope --its 10 volt RMS maximum output -- likely somewhere around .5 watts to make a VERY rough guess.

Jorge, I was thinking about sending my DT Amp back for the DAC to be put in. Is it possible to make the outputs fixed rather than variable?

No worries- variable is fine. I sent the amp in yesterday to get the DAC installed.
