LA is very much a solar powered city. Especially in the beach cities near LAX. Night life is rather lacking.

But I'm sure the Florida crew will help keep the party going into the wee hours of the night.

On a more serious note...this event needs to stop being called "CanJam 09".

"The First (Inter)", "Headfest", and "CanJam" were previous names of glorification.
So we don't blur the righteousness and justification of this seriously holy event, there needs to be a new moniker applied.

Right on!

I bet it's going to be great -- wish I could be there, but I'll probably still be in Germany.

My suggestions for the name, should "CanJam '09" not be the one:

If there's something as amazing as the Millett 307A setup at this one, you could call it "PhoneMoan '09."

If there's a wave of high-end Koss KSC-35s that debut between now and then, ClipTrip '09 would work well too.

Or maybe LA Headphone Meet - L'Internationale '09.

Or in that vein, maybe The Fourth International.

But best of all, if the next one is in Boston, that one should be called:

THIS IS BOSTON, NOT LA (2010).

As long as it's respectful, young Padawan.

Wait a minute...what does that say about the two year's prior "branding"?

Is this going to get down to knuckles?

How about "LAX-CAN JAM-boree"?

I respectfully disagree my scuba diving friend. I think they should call it what they want but CanJam as a name rocks in my opinion. It will start to brand the event which I believe is important.

I kind of like the name CanJam as well... but then again... as I recall... it was pretty much uhhhhhhh... me who came up with that phrase.

Or was I saying HeadJam or CanFest? I dunno. I'm not really trying to take personal "credit" for something so silly as a name, which in any event was decided on as a collective by the '08 organizing committee.

At the same time, I really do like the CanJam brand. It gives the image of a fun and friendly event that is more about the love of music than the headphones themselves. The "Jam" part of it was a nice touch in that we had live music at the '08 event for the first time, and I hope that continues.

The great thing about these "international" meets as we go forward is that each new group of organizers can learn so much from the previous years. I remember being so stoked for the first one in New York and it was an awesome event that I thought would never be topped. Aaron and his group did an incredible job with pioneering such a big event.

Then in San Jose there were some new surprises and different elements designed into the party atmosphere that made it even 'better' in some ways. Maybe this was because those of us who attended both events got to know each other better in San Jose. Same with the Florida meet this year. Many thanks to Al and Mike and everyone who helped them to carry on the tradition and enhance the overall sense of community at Head-Fi.

I'm now expecting the LA meet to offer all sorts of new twists and turns. The momentum can only grow from there. By the time CanJam '11 or '12 rolls around, Jude will need to have a selection committee to help him to pick the host city like they do for the Olympics! Imagine that! Boston, Detroit, Chicago, Las Vegas, Dallas... all fighting to get a chance to sponsor the event!

Wow, I thought it was Gene that came up with the name. I even gave him credit in a thread. Sorry about that. CanJam as a name kicks ass.

Like "Q-Tip, Kleenex, and Xerox", the common name will eventually blur the events together and they will start to lose their "Host City" identity.

Only CanJam will be remembered and the history of the starter 2 events will fade into oblivion.

We will have a CanJam Dynasty instead of a series of yearly events. This year's organizer's should feel free to call it what they wish, but organizers of future events should be allowed the freedom to do as they wish with the event title.

how about

"Lalaland 2009"

with maybe a stick guy dancing wearing headphones or make the "al" "al" into musical notes. basically LA with a head-fi twist.
