Most people will opt for the £35/month option. It'll also be offered on "Pay As You Go" but I highly doubt it'll be for the same handset price.

When are people going to give up on the ogg/flac/ape gripe? First of all, your source is a phone...not a Krell cdp. You really, really need lossless on an iPhone. Second, deal with the encodings offered. It's like saying like saying, what? No support of Betamax? Laserdisc. Sure, ogg/flac may offer slightly better resolution, but MP3 is the world's format at the moment. Insist on Betamax, buy a Sony (and a memory stick!).

Any phone requiring me to be locked into a plan is a no go... especially for longer than a year.

That aside; if the audio quality was fantastic I might have bit on the 200$, but as it is I'll just stick with Meizu's knockoffs and open format support, who knows maybe they've got a phone up their sleeves.

Vodafone

Vodafone italy are going to be doing it unsubsidised for €499/€569 which is £395/£451 or $800/$900 for the 8/16GB.

I suppose £450 for a 16G iphone is kinda ok but the 16G itouch is £200 cheaper, so you got to think if the actual phone is worth £200.

vlc and other players that will allow for any silly format you want will be out as well. so format is a sad choice to make point on.

I was thinking of this yesterday on the pricing of the new iPhone with the locked in contract compares to the current without a contract to buy..

For current iPhone owners on AT&T's network or anyone that is locked into a running contract with AT&T already with a different phone, this $199-$299 price is a deal! think about it if your already happy with your local AT&T service and was/wanted to upgrade to the new product you are saving the current iPhones price of $200. first iPhone customers paid the full price and most locked into a contract with the network, instead now the only difference is your saving $200.00 if you want to upgrade.

for people not in the AT&T network and DON'T WANT TO BE..
it's not a bad price for the phone, and the early termination fee (not sure if AT&T are going to raise it but i believe mine is $175.00). even with the $175.00 fine you are still paying less for the phone then current iPhone customers did regardless of service. the final price will come to $400 for the 8gb and $500.00 for the 16gb for people who want to jailbreak or use on another network.

for people bitching about the upped data plan price from $20.00 to $30.00 a month.. first your paying for faster downloads as you would if you upped your home DSL/Cable lines, it's just the same thing. if you want the faster car you will pay the faster cars price, this can be said with mostly any market out there. also your paying for the "newer technology", regardless if 3G is really all not that new around the world it is in America so you going to pay more for the newer 3G compared to the older Edge/2G. again this goes for any market out there, want the newer technology then you have to pay for it.

anyone who is not on the AT&T network I would suggest you ask people around you that have AT&T if they like it, get some ideas on how the service works locally from people you know. second is weigh your need for speed and if its worth the extra $10 a month for a faster data plan, ask yourself do you really need 3G or will you have WIFI around you most of the time. if you don't choose the AT&T route then you can always jailbreak and use on T-mobiles network's just now AT&T is not going to help you on the price of the new iPhone, you have to pay in the end about the same as anyone did with the current iPhone.

Exactly. People seem to forget that $30 is the standard price for 3G data. Look up the rates for any other 3G phone, why should the iPhone be any different? I'll agree that it SMS should have been included, but carriers are in the business to make money.

It's the same issue with people complaining about the plastic back. Almost every other phone is made out of plastic. Sure, Apple has a history with making their products scratch-prone, but people who have had hands on experience with the phone say it seems to be pretty durable.

Anyway, Engadget says Apple "both improved the audio circuitry and quality of the signal to your headphones, but also cleaned up the in-call sound quality," so things are looking promising for Head-Fiers.

got a 16gb model yesterday and I have to say I love it. It was crazy... like a line for tickets to an amazing rock concert; and the vibe in the line was realy great. People breached the usual boundaries to human communication and actually talked to one another. Here in OZ there are currently 3 mobile carriers that are offering the Iphone. Optus (I went with this one) from $19 monthly with $0 up front on a 24 month contract; of course you wouldn't go for this one because you get bugger all calls and data included. But even that plan works out to about $100 over the current price of the IPOD touch 16gb and you get a phone and some calls thrown in. I wen't with the $49 + $8 insurance monthly, $0 upfront plan which includes $300 worth of call and text and $500mb of data. (insurance is of course optional but Iphones are probably the most envy-able gadget around at the moment here so I went for it) the first month is unlimited data, so you can see how much you are likely to use and then maybe upgrade your data plan.

Excellent from what i've gleamed so far, the IPHONE seems to have a much more detailed and lower bass response and a touch more extension in the highs. i'll have to wait until my SHURES arrive before giving a detailed SQ review. I will say that it is much better than the 1G nano I was stuck with since my 5G IPOD was stolen. The plastic case is fine as well.... slick; better build quality than the N73 and scratches won't be as noticable on the black; of course I instantly bought it a cosy crystal case for a home and immediately put it inside after pulling the protective sticker offThe call SQ is great too. I only have some old senn CX500's for the moment because the triple.fi's I bought a couple of weeks ago failed spontaneously in the left hand bass driver (distortion and clipping even at moderate levels; even properly amped out of my fireface 400) Pity because I was pretty happy with them really; had a good fit with the T500's both stock and flip-flopped... I guess I haven't got deformed ears after all) whether or not this was just an unfortunate manufacturing defect since I live in Australia I was unwilling to be one of those people that utilizes UE's fantastic warranty program to enjoy 3 or more sets of UE's. I'm just unwilling to be without them for 2 weeks at a time (this time was really bad timing as I am traveling down to Sydney to visit my dying grandmother and I hate dealing with people on mass transport), as well as having to pay $60 EMS courier each time

This came at just the right time for me as I was just about to buy another 5.5g IPOD to go with the SE530's that are arriving next week. As there was $0 upfront i'll be able to use the money slotted for that on an LOD and temporary amp solution to get me by until my PICO is ready for delivery I'll have to report. I was worrying about the size/'portability' of the IPOD->LOD->pico->SE530 + Nokia N73 combo, since I would also carry a nokia N73 in the other pocket. Now however that will be reduced to Iphone3G->LOD->pico->SE530 the amazing shrinking system not so much duplication of tech especially considering that the camera is not to bad either previously I would have to carry a small olympus digital camera with me for the happy snap moments. Of course it won't take the place of my Nikon D70 but then what mobile phone will.

so stay tuned; i'm SHURE somebody will beat me to the punch before my SE530's get here but I guess i'll just have to chime in.

ps anybody know of a sub $200 amp that has pretty good resale value. I would like to buy one to fill in while I wait for the PICO. Who knows how long that could be I haven't even recieved any confirmation that my order has been received I posted it both in the order thread as well as to justin's email.

Is there any hiss with sensitive IEMs?

Few reviews are saying that sound is better, but wondering with better IEMs how does it sound? whats the solution for line out ?

I just got mine, and with my UE Triple Fi's it sounds pretty damned good... midway up the scale is a pretty comfortable listening volume, and there's no background noise or buzzing that I can hear. More later...

got a 16 white to replace my old iphone and I must say I LOVE IT!
