Well.

I think the GPS and added 3G support is a must for the European market. No credits for that to apple as it's simply a logic step if you wanna compete with higher-end Nokia and SonyEricsson offerings in the EU.

Credits for the headphone jack? I dunno. It was stupid in the first place to have it recessed. No they just mad up for it.

I must admit I think the enterprise functionality rules, Mobileme loks promising, the black back looks very niicee!!! Improved audio, I think this only includes the speaker.

I don't like the plastic back I'm afraid. I LOOOOOOOVE metal and other durable materials. Also, I think the metal back of the current iphone protects against scratching. The new one is (again) glossy. So you can't lay it down without scatching it.

So I think they mostly made up for mistakes in iphone 1.0 or just added features that were neccesary for launch in the EU.

Though I LOOVE the natural Apple style they do it with. So Neat.

I'm sure the improved audio just refers to the onboard speakers which have apparantly been improved quite a bit. Not audiophile related stuff that most people wouldn't notice and doesn't have a 'wow' factor

so the gps is poo,
the camera sint any better,
the 3g i dont have where i live
the phone looks worse
bluetooth is still poo
the capacity isnt any better
the sound doesnt look to be any better


biggest problem - new improved DAC unit
i was hoping for 5mp camera
gps like the stand alone units
bluetooth
32gb

perhaps some competitors will be able to better it, fingers crossed, id really like to have a phone which doesnt sy apple on it

well, i was all ready to sell my 1st g iphone but not now, i much prefer the look of the old one too

Contracts in store??? That's poo.... I was gonna buy one and hold on to it contemplating unlocking it and using it as a PMP. But processing in store...garbage.

this is FALSE, yes iPod backs scratch easy but the iPhone does not and is a similar surface to the old mini that was tough to scratch. Also the iPhone is the best sounding iPod product I have owned and I have had 5 versions of iPods.

THey Had to do it, Apple realise how big the jailbreak scene turned out to be and this is the only way to get money from people is to get their name on the dotted line before they get their hands on the phone.

I'm surprised, too. I hope it holds up better than the standard chrome, though I'm not sure it'll be as nice as the original iPhone's aluminum backing. We'll see.

So... I'm guessing that I can't get this and only use it like an iPod Touch (because it's $100 cheaper), but rather I have to get a data plan with at&t and have to use it as a phone?
