Btw. the 8Gb one now costs as much as a nano with the same storage.
Hard to justify the nano's price by now...

me.com (or mobileme) was the only thing that caught my attention. Would be a nice application to keep my imac / touch / and work PC in line.

The DAC may very well be different, but that was never the problem with the iphone/touch... it was the amplifier stage. That said, thats not what Jobs was talking about. I'm fairly certain 'improved audio' refers to a speaker that actually makes ring tones audible and speakerphone usable.

A slight delay is the only possibility in my mind. You simply cannot move that much product that quickly. Keep in mind that what units they do have have been kept under lock and key in warehouses near ports. Only now that the cat is out of the bag they can start distributing the phones around the country.

I will certainly be buying an iPhone... my HTC Touch is falling appart, and at 200.00, how can you say no? Its the most capable device at that price point.

It's confusing alright. I have a sony ericsson phone which is into only a few month and the keypads are cracking already. So I was thinking about upgrading to iphone but I don't know if I can switch from a regular phone since the sim card is different. And why do you have to activate the sim card thru itunes???

I'm gonna be using this when available. I currently use shared exchange hosting, but mobileme is cheaper and does much more. I think its going to be a fairly popular product with Mac users.

You can't just put a sim card from an old non-iphone phone into the new iphone. I have no clue why they do this, but whatever.

I know. Surely, there's gotta be a way around doing this because I know there'll be a lot of people wanting to switch to iphone as well.

Did you read this:

"We've learned so much with the first iPhone. We've taken everything we've learned and more and created the iPhone 3G. It's beautiful. This is what it looks like." Black back! "Thinner at the edges. Full plastic back, it's really nice."

With a price drop that significant, I knew there was a catch. It's plastic. I wonder if the front panel will be the same resilient material, or if it too will be some shoddy plastic.

Oh yeah, for sure! One way is to 'fake activate it'. This may already be out for the new 2.0 firmware, I havent kept up for a while, my 1.1.3 jailbroken firmware is just fine.

Im just hoping the firmware stays the same all the way across the board( i.e. iPhone 1 uses the same firmware as iPhone 2). If thats the case I'll probably get one. As of right now it looks like that is the case. People are running the firmware 2.0 already so...its looking pretty good. I'll be able to WinSCP into the phone and seamlessly transfer all of my text messages, contacts, settings, and all other files right over. That should be great!

An aluminum back does not cost $200.

Sprint is garbage and the JesusPhone gets more tempting with this update, but I just can't bring myself to let go of SERO. It would just be such a downgrade, plan-wise. If only AT&T could come out with some slightly more competitive plans!

IIRC, coinciding with the new iPhone, AT&T is gonna have a new $30 unlimited data plan.

doesn't the plastic housing have to do with the GPS not working with metal?
