Studio headphones for a new old-school recording studio? - Page 4

What we will do is to just sit down in the studio with my HD580 and compare it to the studio monitor speaker system in there, when it's all installed. That should be a good reference comparison.
Then I'll get back with new questions probably...

Another vote for the AKG 271 series. There's definitely a reason these are the most famous studio headphones out there.

If you're looking to go more on-the-cheap, you can get a pair of Roland RH200 for around 100 dollars. They're great monitors that'll likely last for a long time.

If you want a studio headphone that is totally nuetral to the source(flat response) And hear every detail with the up most of clarity, you can't beat the Beyers flagship, reference studio cans.. The 48 E. They are very unknown here.. If more people had experience with them, I'm sure most would have recommended them for studio use.. They were not made to sound fun, so i would only recommend them to the serious studio engineer/producer.. They are popular in the broadcasting field

Fostex t20!

The DT48 I think were (or are) aimed at field recording to work with Nagra tape decks, I've always thought of them as part of film or documentary "field" sound kit and not "studio" cans. Not that they couldn't work there but I just think most industry people would associate them with field recording.
