Federer vs. Nadal for French Open Final... 3X in a row. - Page 4

Yes, Soderling is for real and Im sure he will have more chances at a GS title.  He was worn out buy the middle of set 2.   His power is something to behold but Nadal's relentless retrieving style is the best weapon in tennis.   The Nadal that Soderling beat last year was only a shell of the one that showed up this year.   Safe to say Nadal OWNS this court till he is ready to give it up.

I agree, but it took a brilliant defensive strategy by Nadal to counter Soderling's power.

Nadal was extremely impressive in his match against Soderling.   I believe Nadal will be a force in Wimby and he will win many more slams starting from now given that Federer's age.

If his knees hold up; they seem to betray him on every surface except clay.

I think he will be a force in Wimby.  The grass is a lot slower after the tournament progress.  He will also be a force in any Australian Open given the slow nature of the court.  I still think Federer will win the US Open as long as he gets his act together but then again he could also get blown off court if he faces Del Poltro or Soldering in US open.  Fed will likely need to work on his physical to be a bit stronger and get the serve percentage up.  Nadal is slightly more offensive minded now so I think his knees will last him a bit longer.  Nadal's reign will be shorter at the top than Fed given that he will likely slow down when he hits 27 as his game is base on speed and very taxing on his body.  Certainly, he has time to win atleast 5 more Grandslams by then.

Del Potro is out of US Open.

And I think Soderling is no match for Fed on Decoturf... at the FO, the conditions were really unfavourable for Fed, damp, heavy balls, no effect with droppers.

And well, Fed is turning 29, I don't think he can work as much to be stronger. He cannot definitely be the same guy from 2006 when he would wipe the court with everyone but Nadal. But Feds serve is wicked when it's on these days. Shame his movement is not the best anymore.

Did not know that Del Potro is out of the US Open.  Remember Andre toward the end of his career?  His movement was better than the beginning of his career as he was a lot fitter.  I believe Fed can do the same, if he is willing to focus on getting stronger and fitter.  He usually can beat just about anyone out there right now but lately he has got blown out of court by heavy hitters like Sod and Del Potro. I think Fed will loose to Nadal in Wimby but will regain his US Open crown.  I don't see Murray get himself together any time soon.

well, Feds movement at the AO the yr was incredible, close to 2006 level. I don't really know, his peak time was just too incredible.

I think it's the strategy he employs against the big hitters, he is too stubborn. Remember last year AO? He double-bagelled DEl Potro and since then hasn't done much to him.  But agree with your opinion, I think Fed might loose his head to Nadal. He has everything to beat him, but has a mental barrier towards the guy. The breakpoint capitalisation says it as well. I'd like to see him get the US though :) Speaking of big hitters, I love watching DEl Potro. Saw him live, his shots are like bullets.

I think it's just on clay where Nadal gets into Federer's head; on other surfaces they are quite evenly matched IMHO.

That's IF Nadal's knees are holding up on said other surfaces, a big if.

Wimby, Fed is slighly better IMO.

French is Nadal by a mile.

Australian is evenly match due to court slowness.

US Open is Fed due to much faster court.

Indoors Federer :) Considering Nadal's last performance at ATP London.

Wimby... I'd say Fed better, but well, depends what we see this year. I'd love another epic final.

I just found out Nadal is using Bose Quiet Comfort 15 :D It was in his 'Bag Check' video :)
