List Your Headphones

Thread Starter
It seems like some people here have a lot of very nice headphones.

I'm just curious to see how many, and what kind people here own, and what you think of each pair.

I have:

1.A yellow pair that came with my Shockwave 405, from over 5 years ago

-piece of crap. There's nothing good I can say about them. They're better than many other headphones I've seen that came standard with dismans (discmen?), though, although that's not saying much

2.VMSS Brainshaker 'stethoscope headpones' (as I call them) that came with my Panasonic 870 Metal discman from a couple years ago.

-The sound quality in the high range isn't all that bad. The headphones are pretty much unable to produce any lower sounds, so they make up for this with a stupid vibrating thing that sits on the back of your neck. It seems cool at first, but the novelty wears off fast. Also, the headphones have no warmth whatsoever.

3.Grado SR60s

-I don't think I single person on this board isn't familiar with these. Great headphones. Although they could use slightly more bass, I still love them. Like with many other people, these were my introduction to audiophile-quality sound (as the cliche goes)

4.Koss Porta Pros

-Just picked them up today, so I can't give a really fair assessment yet. So far, I reallyt like them. They sure beat the snot out of the firts two pairs that I mentioned. Also, while they have more bass then the Grados, they don't quite have the warmth or detail. That's to be expected, though, since they're portable, and less expensive. So far, I'm really enjoying them.

Well, that's my collection. One day, I plan to pick up some of the truly amazing headphones I see mentioned here like the Senn 600s/650s (are they out yet?) or the Grado RS1s.

For the time being, I can't afford anything close to that price, but eventually, I'm going to graduate up to that level.

So, I'd like to see what others around here have, and how they would rate them.

Mine should be in my profile somewhere. As should everyone elses. They one's they'll admit to anyways.

Some people have a lot of headphones, it's best to just check profiles - it'd take quite a while for some people to write descriptions of every headphone in their inventory

If you click in "profile" the tab under the window, the list should be there, along with some info about the member, just don't trust all what you read there...

I have several that came with my md portables and slim-x portables. But I'm only going to list the one that I really use.

Koss Portapro - This is hooked up to my slim-x at all times just because the sound is great with this particular portable.

Koss KSC-55 - I used this headphone specifically for the gym. Number reason, because this headphone is very sporty and produce good sound for my minidisc portable.

Koss Sportapro - This was my first Koss headphone. I don't use this anymore cause my wife uses this for her workout. She like the mute button on it specifically and it sounds good. She uses this with minidisc as well.

I don't think they would, but the truth is that a lot of people don't bother to update their profiles, let alone fill them out. So even it just says "Koss Portapro" they might have HD600s, Etys, etc. but are too lazy to type them in!

When I get new equipment, one of the first things I do is update my profile. Its one of the perks of buying new stuff in my opinion.

Well, i'm pretty new to the land of headphones.

Koss UR30
Sennheiser MX500
Grado SR-80
Grado SR-225

Soon to add a pair of Sennheiser HD-580s, as soon as I can afford to buy a used pair.

Just bought a Zu Cable Pivot minijack/RCA from eBay.

About a month ago I got my first headphone amp, a top end (Top as in the best JMT builds for home use) META42.

I'm currently using my PC as a source with CDs and high bitrate audio files. Connected with a ****ty Monster minijack to RCA cable, which is soon to be replaced with the Pivot I bought on eBay.

About a month ago, I didn't have the amp or the SR-225s. Until then I was content with my unamped SR-80s. My my how expensive this is getting. =d

Koss KSC-35s as everyday headphones
Sony CD3000 for serious listening.
