WTB: A Resistor Adaptor/Attenuator

I am curently looking for a resitor adaptor to diminish hiss detected when listening to my sony 829 DAP (you may have read my thread in the portable source gear forum inquiring about the possibility). I would be looking at the cable providing 75 ohms of resistance, prefarably. I am not fussed if its a commercial model being passed on second hand nor if its a homemade one, provided you can endorse its quality and reliability.

I have now purchased an adaptor from a member. However, I may still be interested in an adaptor of resitance 50-100 Ohm. Any offers pm me.

No, I havn't tried using ebay. I'm not such an experienced ebayer so I've probs, subconsciously put myself off doing it. I'll check it out, I think. However, forgive my naiviety, I'm from UK; I am aware there is an ebayUS and an ebayUK, as a registered UK ebayer can you still buy/seller internationally? Thats assuming the said seller is outside the UK lol

Awwan makes great resistor adapters, I have two different ones made by him: ETYMOTIC ER4P TO ER4S RESISTOR ADAPTOR - eBay (item 300254875363 end time Sep-07-08 16:49:42 PDT)

Don't you think that these barrel type adapters may damage the socket of the headphone out?

Like those barrel style 1/4" to 1/8" barrel type adapters are not a good idea.

The Awwan adapters are really small. With an average IEM plugged into them they're still smaller than a 3.5/6.2mm plug on most full-sized cans. I don't think they would put too much strain and leverage on a jack.

the ones from head-direct are cable: so a small 3,5 mm jack to 3,5 mm jack with about 15 cm of total cabling in between - they make the same amount of stress on a jack as plugging say a 3,5 cabled dt880 or 650: so much less than the barrel adapters. check them out -- i have one (had two for some reason) - they are called dowin cable i think @ 75ohm
