Navyblue's Oliv-o-flange (my ultimate tips for Etymotic IEMs) - Page 2

The best way I've found to keep the Shure black foams clean without harming their springiness is to use a lightly dampened makeup sponge.

These sponges are used, generally, to put on or remove makeup, but they're very soft, very tight-cell sponges and they are great at cleaning off delicate electronics, including Shure black foams.

i've modded my triflange to biflange, but i've not trimmed the first flange so much. My main concern with this mod is if the black foam will stay fit in the flange

i've done some testing using the plastic tube from the im716 stock foams, and they stay too loose.

Do you think we have to put glue between the triflanges and the shure foam?
I like your idea a lot.

so i've finnaly done this
isolation improves from the stock black foam, but the foam get out to easily, sometimes it gets stuck inside my ear

im considering just leaving the big flange part, remove the rest of the tube, and add the shure black foam with it's larger tube... while i wont get the narrow tube from flanges, i will get more tightness

Hi Navyblue, just did your mod and I am very happy with the result. The difference is, I already cut the 3rd flange before (which resulted in the whole flange stuck in my ear). I also make sure to leave a big stub in the 2nd flange to make sure the foam won't slip easily.

I didn't use Shure Black Olives, but use a similar foam from another canalphone.

Thank you for coming up with this mod, I shall enjoy my ER6i with more comfort!
