Ray Samuels B-52's - My Home Rig - Yes With Pictures

Some of you have asked about my home listenting area. So, I finally got motivated enough to take a few pictures. These show my general home listening area as follows

1. My two (2)
2. Esoteric CD Source
3. Bel Canto DAC 3
4. IMac Service interconnected to the DAC
5. Esoteric Word Clock (to the right of the CD Player)
6. Edition 9 (Balanced)
7. K701 (Balanced)
8. RS-1 (Not balanced in this photo although I typically use balanced)

The iMac is connected to the Bel Canto via optical out and then the Bel Canto is connected via balanced output to the B-52 on the left.

The candles are currently taking up space for a new Meridian 808 to follow in the next week or so. More pictures to come.

Two B-52s?!!! Holy glorious tube-fi! That is some impressive kit you've got there. I wouldn't let anyone here know where you live!

Appreciate it my friend.

Damn... nice.

But why two?

Call me confused. Why two B-52's? Nice, I mean they are beautiful. Someday I hope to hear one, oh what glory it will be. :^)

Lots of folks have asked about the two; I had originally thought that I would use one as pre-amp, but I rarely use my home floor stereo. I really wanted the ability to use one more for analogue listening and one more for digital. After I add the Meridian, I will go more vinyl with the second B-52 for a bit more "analog and tube sound". I also have friends over and can have two people listening in balanced mode from the same source.

two B-52s. that's crazy, in a cool way.

are you getting the new model of the 808, the 808.2?

also, i can't believe you don't have a Bal HD650. why not.

I own a set of the 650s but not balanced, and a pair of Denon AV5000s also not balanced. So many people have recommended the 650s terminated to XLR that I'm likely to try it.

As for the other question, the 808.2....gulp.

Asr doesn't either,
What's the deal?

2 B-52's!
haha that is wonky

Ok, you have two B-52's but no balanced phones, which is easy with the 650's and they reportedly sound very good balanced.

Does the B-52 have a phono section?

That's pretty impressive, I must say. Well laid out as well.

All you need is a proper mouse and you'll be in business.

No, my 701s, and Edition 9's are balanced and I have balanced RS-1's as well. Just no 650s.

Swing by anytime for a listen. Serioiusly, I've learned so much from people hearing equipment I've owned and making suggestions, tweaks, introducing new music. Bring your 650's and plug in.

That is soooooooo cool! I am also thinking of getting a second B-52. One for work (where I do the majority of my headphone listening), and the other for home (to serve as my preamp of my speaker-based rig). The other thought is a TTVJ 307A for work or an electrostatic system (O2 + ? amp) for work.

Great stuff BigEat!!!
