Can't decide between 2 subwoofers

Hello all. I've been trying to decide what subwoofer to get over the past month, and I think I've narrowed it down to 2: The MFW 15 from av123 or the VTF2 Mk3 from HSU. Both are out of stock right now, but I was wondering if anyone has heard both of these subs?

I'm using an 0404 usb for a source and the sub will be complementing some bx8as for the mains.

Both are killers. Flip a coin?

Do you have a big enough room?

The room I will be using it in is 24' x 15'. Does this make a difference?

well yes. a 15" sub needs room lol. otherwise it will overwhelm everything. you need a balanced system. the room is large enough though.

personally, I would go with av123 but both subs are excellent.

Have you considered a Klipsch sub, awesome and IMO just as good as Velodyne (wearing the flame proof suit).

Come on miguel, those are ht subs. We only do musical around here!

Lol yes, I agree, they can be had for a good price but I personally do not like either for music. The av123 was designed to blend in. I want one just so I can stop noticing the sub. In my setup, it is close but still I can tell there the sub in the middle. Of course, I only paid $120 for mine so no bitching lol.

What's your system meant to do, music recording/monitoring or home listening for pleasure?

If the latter, take your subwoofer money, sell your bx8a, and buy a pair of real nice main speakers and be done with it. JIMHO.

Not sure I agree with you. Both Velodyne and Klipsch were making subs way before. I have a 7 year old Klipsch LF-10 which sounds fantastic. Almost bought a Velodyne at the time but this was being phased out as a last year model and bought for less than half price.

Glad I have it because after 25+ years of owning a pair of DCM Time Windows 1A I am contemplating a set of Maggies 1.6 which need a bit of help in the bass department.

I want to use the sub for both listening to music and HT as well.

I used to have some $70 creative 7.1 speakers that had a 6" sub (more like midrange in a separate box) and I really do miss that bass now that I am using the BX8s, even though now I can hear cleaner low range than before. I feel a sub is necessary for my needs, this is why I'm asking.

In this head to head shootout, the Klipsch was clearly outclassed by the others including the Velodyne

I think the current line of Velodyne subs are excellent.
