Best cans for public transportation???

Hmm, looking for some IEMs. I have UM2s, but my GF uses them for her jogging and her iPod, and I'm not an indian giver, lol.

Being here in Vegas, without a rental car, I'm taking the Bus everyday and walking to the bus stops about 1/8-1/4 a mile from my hotel room, and the KSC-75, while great, don't isolate much, and I'de prefer not to hear the announcements of the bus, or what chitter chatter people are talking about, or the bus noise altogether. My bus ride all together with waiting at bus stops and the ride itself is about an hour long (even though it's only 8 miles away, lol), so I definitely need SOMETHING SOON.

So, what is good for you public transportation users? I want something that's akin to the Grado sound. Punchy, aggressive and in your face. The amp will be a Diablo or goVibe Magnum, so I have adjustable bass, so I don't particularly need a bassy can. I was thinking Yuins, but the isolation isn't that great. Or is it?

Any advice is GREATLY appreciated.

ER-4Ps. With the adjustable bass they'd achieve perfection. I don't know what people are talking about when they say they're analytical.

I'd recommend the Ultrasone HFI-780, which is a closed headphone, that exhibits very Grado-like sound, along with an airiness that's uncommon in closed cans. Isolates pretty well for a can.

I have yet to listen to an IEM that is as in-your-face as a Grado.

ER4S amped with a bass boost sounds really good, it certainly has similarities to Grado (speed, treble, punchy bass). And it isolates really well for my everyday subway commuting.

SA6 is good too, but it sounds more different from the Grado house sound.

get the er4p's the other er4's are too bright in my opinion.

when im on the go and have nowhere to put any fullsized headphones, i use my er4p's with bass boost on my ipod and they sound great. recently i had to send my beyers out to get fixed and my k240's arent here yet so ive been listening to my only thing left - my er4p's. they isolate like crazy and are quite comfy


they are a bit fatiguing to me though, but im weird... i can take a 5,000 watt 15" sub pumping in a car for 5 hours but i cant wear bright headphones for too long or it hurts my ears. go figure


anyway - you wont be dissapointed with er4p's they're VERY accurate and unless your a massive basshead (there are days my beyers arent heavy enough for me... i know its sad..), your going to love them


the er4P is the "portable" version that is more easily driven with better bass response than the er4s

I thought the only difference between the P and the S is a resistor making it easier to drive?

He's looking for IEMs. Moreover, the 780s are not really that portable. But they sound great (especially after recable).

partly yes, they also describe it as having a slightly better bass response (and i have owned both, the p is better in the low end, still bright overall though)

The livewires, have a very grado-ish sound in my opinion.
I mainly listen to rock and they have plenty of impact and so do the KSC-75 so one vote for them.

have youo tried TF10s? If you are one of select few who has secure fit, they'll give you sonic bliss

I couldn't get EB's to stay in my ear, so I doubt a Triple Fi would be able to. I tried all the different tip sizes and couldn't get a seal.
