Technics SL-XP5

just bought this one, super heavy and nicely built

Part of the heftyness comes from the battery base under the player. The player itself is not really that heavy. and it is actaully pretty thin without the battery box.

1987.... This is definitly a desktop player material, it even requires +/- power input (I think the AC adaptor is +/-7.2v)

The inside. lots of surface mount parts mixed with through hole. wires every where. Not as neat as the Sony's above.

The line-out signal caps are easy to locate, a pair of electrolytics near the line-out jack....

I will probably tap the signal out and mount VitQ 96P's in the battery box. Have no urge to do that right now though.

I've recently started looking for vintage pcdps and would like to know where you can find them online these days. Ebay? If your ever selling your sony d-11, give me a pm please.

Any ideas on where to get good portable cd players?

you should be able to find vintage ones in swap meets. Just have to be patient. Buying on ebay is ok but sometime it is hard to tell the condition of the unit from regular sized pictures.

Ok.....

For sale: modded D-11 (now with 1uf 96P vitamin-Q as line-out caps, better than the previous 0.82uf 196P), $125 shipped, US only. Includes a Sony 9V adaptor, and the external battery box.

The main reason for selling is this PCDP's power requirement is not competible with my Stax 001's voltage, and I want to use one battery box and drive both the amp and the source.

Also, if you are interested in the D-33 ( not modded, but critical signal caps are already figured out ), add $25 and I will put it into the box too. It also comes with a 9V wallwart (not the same as the D-11's, different plug size). It doesn't seem like I will ever get to finish the D33 so might as well let it go. The scratches are not quite as bad as it seems in the photo.

Are the D33 and D11 newer or older models than the D-T3?

In the stock market world, they call this "pump and dump." Also, it goes against Head-Fi's rules on selling DIY projects for quick profit.

ok. So to make the mod actually valuable (instead of showing everybody else how to do it then get dis-ed), all D-11 related info are now deleted. No more "pump", only "dump". You happy now? (I am pretty sure you already saved all the info you need)

How much do you think a fully working D-11 in good condition goes on ebay? Better put down $50 to be safe, add $50 for VitQ's, BlackGate NX's, shipping, etc, then after more than a few hours of my absolutly worthless time, and the rest is what you have just clearly defined as "quick profit".

up again, for free stock market advises!

And here is the "newest" collection, D-180K (lower left). Gosh it is even bigger than a D-11
