Shure Earphones

Right now, I have the Denon AH-C551. It sounds good, but I don't like how it feels in my ear. I want it more comfortable. The Deneno's also fall out easily. I notice that some old or new Shure earphones sell for a cheap price on eBay. I want a Shure earphone that is of the same or better sound quality than the Denon's. I really want the Shure to fit snugly in my ears and isolate very well. I don't really care how much price it is because I'll try to find a really good deal on eBay. I was thinking may be the Shure E2C or E3C. I notice that I see E2C and E2C-n. What are the difference between those? I also want to know some new Shure's that go for a cheap price. For the new Shure's, I was thinking about getting Shure SE110, 210, or 310. What is the best out of all? Which old one to the new one does it compare to?

I have the E2c and the cable is pretty thick and its been durable enough for me. I would just be careful when you wrap it around your ipod.

I mean it's just too much of a hassle to put it into the case. Is it easy to put the Shure's in the case that it comes with?

You have to fold them pretty tight. I found it made light creases in the wire so i just stick them in my pocket- no harm done.

The E2c is comparable to the SE110, the E3c to the SE210, etc. The new SE models have new "olive" tips, that can be found on Amazon.
I have the SE210 and it does not have much bass or extended treble. They still sound nice though.

Well the E2c case has a round plastic spool so you just wrap it around that and zip up the case, but Im not sure how the other shure cases are.

What is the difference between the E2C and the E2C-n? On the pictures, only the colors look different. Are there anything else different?

I think the "N" is a cellphone model.

Oh, thanks. I think I'm either going to buy Shure SE210 or the E3c if I can find them for a cheap price. If I can't, I'll settle for the SE110 or the E2c. Come to think of it, what is the difference with the SE series and the E series except for the look? Is the sound any different?

I'd look long and hard for e3c over e2c and also the Denon AH-C551s I think outperform the e3c and cost a lot less (I own both). TheSE110 is absolute trash trash trash, I owned for about 1hr and took em back.

Also I know the feeling of them seeming not a solid fit, I got some custom molds for them actually from Listen Hear.

EDIT: I have very small ear holes and I own the e2c also, they will not work for me due to how big the stock is. So if your ear holes are small they become very painful.

Yeah, I think my ear hole is small too. The smallest peace that came with Denon's are a little bit bigger. I have to stretch out my ear and insert the headphone in really hard.

why don't you just buy some different ear tips. I had same problems with my Denon's and I found some tips from a Philips earphone that fit better. Just happened to have them and was amazed how much better they even sounded when the tips fit better.

Shures look great, they isolate very well, they seem to have good detail, and Shure has an excellent customer service reputation (partly because of practice -- the thick wires have more problems than some brands' thinner wires) ... but what are you using them with?

I found my E3C's to be thin and hollow sounding with iPods, which don't EQ as well as other brands of players. Not as much of an issue with players that you can EQ. You might be happy with them, but not having heard your previous earphones, I don't know what sort of difference there will be in sound for you, or what your expectations are.

I'll be using it with my iPod touch. I'm not expecting some great sound because I'm not going to be spending that much money. I'm expecting more than my iBuds though.

Oh yeah -- that should be a definite step up (if nothing else, in terms of fit, isolation and detail ... I'm one of those not comfortable with iBuds and other conventional buds just barely hanging in the ear).

Be careful with the cheap ebay auctions on shure phones there are fakes out there. Personally I would go through an authorized retailer.
