Should "Can Jam" be the main title of International Head-Fi meets to come?

Perhaps the mob has already spoken, what with the many references to "Can Jam '09," but I figured I'd pose the question here formally.

Certainly the title "Can Jam (insert year here)" is a lot snappier and easier to print/use than "(insert year here) Head-Fi International Meeting" or the like. And as with this Can Jam, such a description can always be used as a sub-title.

I suppose the only competitor for this purpose is last year's title "Head Fest" which aside from a certain campy insinuation, doesn't seem quite as snappy or fun sounding as "Can Jam" to me.

Of course, I'm sure some might want each year to come up with a new/original title. This could probably work for a while, but in the long-term I think it's quite possible we'd run out of useful possibilities.

So what does everyone think?

I think the crowd here is smart enough to think of an original title for each year's meet.

The fact that we have about 800 badge lanyards with the name CanJam on them without a year might be enough reason to keep the name. Uncle Wilson and Jaben/Crossroads were very generous in this and many ways, and it is certainly another reason to vote for keeping the Jam. Plus, I like the name better and it got a lot less flak than the HeadFest name that I myself coined.

Yes, absolutely, CanJam™ forever!

Do note, however the precious little TradeMark (™) now in place, and send appropriate usage fees to:

While a new title for each year is fun eventually you run out good choices. The advantage to keeping it the same is branding both inside and outside of our community. I believe the name is solid and would help establish identify for the event.

I like my name for it, but it doesn't work on this forum.

I don't care what you call it, as long as I can make it.

I want to give credit to agile_one as he was the one that came up with the name. As Voltron pointed out, I have about 800 lanyards from this year that Uncle Wilson donated with CanJam printed on it. I purposely left off the year so that they could be used again. So I voted to continue to use CanJam because it's a cool name and for the practical reason that we have enough lanyards for at least 2 more years.

Long Live CanJam!

Seriously though, it's a great name and it might make sense from a marketing perspective (as this thing grows) to have the same name every year.

Now, about that pesky location issue...

I like CanJam. But I think that I liked 'probably because I went to it', HeadFest a little bit better. CanJam reminds me of CalJam (huge concert in the 70s).

And I thought that HeadFest ties itself a little closer to the source of Head-Fi.

Cheers,

I liked HeadFest, but then I'm a bit tweeked in the head. Nothin' wrong with CanJam though, and having the stinking badges already to go is a pretty compelling argument, for the next one anyway.

Aw, the canjam url http://www.canjam.com/ is already taken by a squatter.

Canjam is a cool and fun name and within our community easily identifiable as to what it represents. However, outside of head-fi I suspect a lot of people and even some audiophiles would see canjam and it just wouldn't click that we are talking about headphones and whatnot.

Using last years lanyards assumes they would work with next years badges and not just limited to attachment concerns either. Would many potential 09 badge makers readily agree to use and attach them? Ordering a completed badge is the way to go so that team 09 members don't have to attach a lanyard to each badge.
