Simply connect the RCA output of your TV to any recording device and press "record." It should be that simple.

it will record through the headphone jack? what (inexpensive $100 or less.. $50 or less) recording device do you recomend?

i just run the analog rca jacks from my ps2 to a meta42. the digital ps2 out goes to my ht reciever.

what is the game system and what kind of inputs and outputs do you have? what quality recording do you want?

A headphone jack is an output, not an input.

You could buy an inexpensive portable MiniDisc recorder and use that as a recording device, or you could buy a regular old tape recorder. Go to http://www.minidisc.org to research MiniDisc recorder models. Also visit http://www.minidisct.com and go to the forums there to ask questions about what recorder to get, and they have a classified section where you can buy a used unit.

from which are you trying to record? Just curious...

If you have a computer soundcard with an input, you can record to your hard drive.

Alternately, there are some programs and ways to rip the music from the CD all digitally. This would of course prerserve the best quality.

oh... i want to record some music off my gamecube games, for now, (metroid prime in particular) to whatever will still sound good on an all out meta 42 (minus the el 2002 upgrade but with 4xbuffers and the opa637ap burr brown op amp) with music series 2 headphones. eventually when i get a ps2 i'm going to get vagrant story and some final fantasy games again and record the music off of them.. that music is the commencment room (when it has all the save points in it) from final fantasy 8 would be superb. but i was just wanting decent recording... i'll be getting my own pc in a few months maybe.. but now i just use the library's.. so i need something no more than $100 to record onto.. i just need the recordings to be neutral and clean. i was going to just use the rca outs on the back of my t.v. set to record from. oh... and the ins i will have on my meta (when it gets made in about 6 weeks) will be a 1/8 inch and gold carda rca's and the out will be a neutrik 1/4 inch.

LOL...you should also search on google for fansites that have loads of midi's and probably mp3 rips of the soundtracks your interested in. One site: www.zophar.net

Zophar's has tons of game music files ripped directly from the console, not sure if they have any next gen system soundtracks just yet, but there's a pile of nes, genesis and snes soundtracks ready for download. The music players for these files are also on the site. Enjoy.

Most video game music is tracked, so a .it or something is fine. In fact, it would be higher quality than if it were encoded.
