Also, make sure you upgrade the D2's firmware, since it's latest couple firmwares really enhance the sound even further.
Oke, i will have a look nexttime on what firmware is used. But how do you connect the D2 to your port. amp? Does the D2 have a lineout? Also did you compare iPod with the D2 through both there lineout's? The HP of the iPod is worse then it's lineout, especially on older models.

I think P2 firmware update increased SQ thats why its first now.
Overall they didnt say that was an exhaustive ranking, there's a part of subjectivity but i think its quite good and it can help. Differences in terms of audio quality is minimal

PS:Sorry for my english

Which firmware update?

I've gone through all of them(up to 5.05 beta) and I haven't seen any mention of increased SQ, nor heard it while playing music through my P2...

Where is the Sansa Clip??

I read a bit on their site and they seem to indeed rank according to their mood. I've hoovered over 3-4 reviews and they don't seem to use the same earphones for every player. This seem to be more an all-around customer review than an audiophile review.

Sorry but that's not true. We ranked the players on SQ only, using the same earphones for all the players, and the same music. We had all the players available at the time.

Sorry about that. It's just that I read the iPod, Zune and Cowon reviews and couldn't find any information on the earphone you used.

I assume that every player review itself have been made at different times and then you regrouped all the players to compare their sound for an overall ranking.

Since you are here, could you tell wich headphone you used for the reviews?

dang, wished I spent few minutes to read the whole thread and not jump to conclusions instead of spending all my time reading the DIY threads...

Sorry about everything!

What the hell about the NW-HD5?

I have owned mine for only a week and I think it sounds greater (when using my EX90SL IEM's) than all the SQ comments I read on this board and others about the iPod and some of the other DAP's out there, especially since it has ATRAC/SonicStage support (very important being to me also being an MD/Hi-MD user), and an adjustable EQ, with 8 different settings including 2 bass/treble EQs and 2 6-band EQs as well as 4 presets.

In fact, there are 2 different teams in GenerationMP3.com: The first one is the original one, they focus on audio and video players and everything around the numeric world. They are the guys that publish reviews of audio players.

A few years ago we created the "Casque" team (casque here means headphones in french) that began to review earphones, headphones, amps and DACs...

Now when we review an audio player, both teams participate. That wasn't the case before. So generally the players' SQ is reviewed with custom earphones (Earsonics EM3-Pro, EM2-IFI or Insono 3TSBass).

For the ranking now, it is done by the Casque team, with high end earphones (universal and customs).

Hope everything is a bit clearer now

everyting fine!

It explains why each player individual review don't clearly tell wich headphone have been used or if the same earphone have been used for each review.

And it also explains how you compared each player.

Thanks
