If that's true, that really sucks for a P2 owner like me.

Just Know that D2 is better than iPOD Classic in SQ..

I've ever tested to compare that two player but.. I think iPOD classic still better than D2 in SQ

People from anythingbutipod highly recomend players with best SQ sansa clip, (T400) and D2, enzoten tried many players with HD650 and shure SE530, I think it sounds trustful. But everbody know that it is very subjective thinks.

Good list. I like that the testing was done blind to eliminate placebo effects and focus strictly on SQ.

I wasn't even looking at the Sony players when I was researching / shopping this week, but this thread led me to the A829, which I immediately loved.

just had a listen to the Cowen D2 and a Sony. What i am wondering is if the tested the players with all the enhancements switched off. Because with all the sound enhancements on those players made the music much more enjoyable, but all turned off, it started to sound flatter then my iPod.

Having said this, the iPod really needs some sound enhancement plugins. And the current EQ in the iPod is still complete rubbish.

Nope, I listen to my D2 with all my audio enhancement settings OFF. No EQ, or any of that rubbish. Nowadays, I use a RSA Predator amp with the D2, but even before when I was using a direct HP connection, I found the D2's sound quite impressive. Also, make sure you upgrade the D2's firmware, since it's latest couple firmwares really enhance the sound even further.

So, firmware enhancement is ok but EQ enhancement is rubbish?

I bet that website rated the player as a whole, not only the sound quality.
And the D2 is a bit confusing with all the firware version

Aaa okey.

Still the same question: How can the Clix2 be better?

I mean: The Cowon D2 has a touchscreen, a SC-Card-Slot, more functions and a better battery (52h!)

The thread title says SQ only, so it doesn't look like a feature based comparison. And the group of them rated them without knowing which players they were.
