SIGN UP! Zanth's Headphone Loan Programme - Page 9

It does suck and it is frustrating. I did some digging and found that acameron sent as he had received them from Nugwin, wrapped in brown paper, no second well protected box. LeonWho may have been late sending them out but he sent as he too received them to Gatto. It just sucks in this instance that the first person on the list couldn't follow instructions.

This pales in comparison to what I'm going through with the GS-1000's at the moment.

zanth you had to have figured this might happen. especially considering that the fones being loaned out are cheap ones that could easily just be purchased then resold. so i have to think, are the people in the sr60 loan program a bunch of cheap asses whom probably aren't all that trustable to handle such a program seriously?

despite this debacle, you said the gs1k program is going well and that rs1/2 will be rolled out soon? i was wondering if there could be plans in the future for a more 'safer' program for a set of ps-1?

Hey panda. I did expect that if I were to experience difficulties I would either have a hard time with SR60's because they would be newbies to the forum in most cases and likely younger folks just getting into the hobby, or I would have a problem with someone damaging or stealing the GS-1000's.

Thankfully I've had no problems with damage or theft as of yet but I have had to deal with folks who simply can't commit to the rules they agreed to follow before receiving the headphones.

I'm not a malicious guy and as I've stated numerous times in this thread and elsewhere, I'm insanely busy. Really, it's sick and I need to stop the madness. Thus, I do understand when life throws nasty curve balls. What I need is frankness, honesty and hard timelines that I can follow and the people can commit to. Seriously, unless someone dies or some other crazy catastrophe occurs, one realizes what their life situation is and whether they can commit to a two week trial of some gear. If one can't, don't accept the phones at that time. I've already had one guy who couldn't commit because of school obligations and decided he would wait 6 months or so. Great! Thanks for letting me know and being honest and realizing it wouldnt' be worth the time or expense to get the phones there only to have them sit in a corner gathering dust.

As for the PS-1's...that's going to take quite a bit of cash. Likely $2k to get a set. I won't send my own pair out, so another would need to be procured. Until the current system gets smoothed out, there is no way I would dare go with something like a PS-1 or an L3000.

Honestly, until this latest person, the GS-1000 program was super smooth with everyone sending me the photos without me asking, sending me tracking and being proactive with shipping out. It does only take one to pull the wind out of the sails though

Sorry to hear that it isn't going well. While it may suck for those doing things right to lose their chance, because of others not living up to their part of the deal -- I fully support your pulling the plug on this program if your headphones are not being handled properly. Sure some might be disappointed at losing their chance, but it's not your responsibility to give them that chance. It's very generous of you to offer this program Zanth, but if the proper respect and responsibility in partaking in this program is consistently not being shown, then things can get pretty ugly if something really bad were to happen to the headphones. Maybe pulling it (whether permanent or temporary) will let it be known that proper procedure has to be followed.

Regardless of the cost of the headphone, being able to have one to hear personally in your own space all for the cost of shipping is a great deal. Going into a buy blindly either for a sub $100 headphone or a $500+ headphone is the same in the sense that it's a hassle if you don't like it and want to return/have to sell it off again (if buying used). This opportunity greatly cuts the hassle for the potential buyer.

for those who have reneged, perhaps a strike in their feedback is in order. i don't think i would purchase anything from someone who has even one bad feedback on here (seeing as it's all unofficial private sales) so that might be a motivator for these punks to not be lazy/cheap...

the ps1 thing is touchy i know, just thought i'd throw the idea out there for future possibilities if the kinks get worked out and someone is willing to spring one for distribution.

That's an interesting idea. Usually the requirements for a commercial transaction are goods in exchange for money. In this circumstance, "money" was represented by "photos". You're a mod, Zanth, do you feel it's unreasonable to leave negative feedback in this circumstance. They received goods without providing what they agreed to -- if what they agreed to was money they would be scammers. As it is, they get off with nary more than a mention on here.

I left negative feedback for one person. The reason? He agreed to handle my headphones and goods were exchanged, if only for a time. Money was exchanged, in that a generous member gave money for the headphones. All things considered, if someone can't deal this well with something as simple as shipping the item in the package it came in! How can one safely expect to get an item in an "as described" fashion?

I would never leave negative feedback for missing the photos, though I would announce it publically in this thread. But leaving feedback for handling the headphones and sending them off in an untirely ensafe fashion? Negative feedback? You betcha!

This makes me really sad I hope this program does not have to be discontinued but I would completely understand. I got the headphones last night which themselves are in good shape but the box is all bent. I don't understand how someone can sign up for this then not read the rules. I took a ton of pictures as soon as I got them, it took me 5 minutes. All I did was pull out my iphone and snap about 20 shots until I felt like I got what I needed. Then uploaded and emailed them then settled down with these cute little cans. I must say I really truly appreciate this opportunity to try these headphones. I know they aren't expensive but I already have K701s so I was wondering what slightly lower priced headphones sound like. I must say these cans just make me smile. They have a lovely sound signature and are so comfortable and light. Within 2 songs I was in love with them. Again, thank you so much Zanth for letting me try them I can promise you that they are in safe hands for at least the next 2 weeks and will be properly shipped in a box full of bubble wrap to their next listener.

I'm too much of a noob here to even consider signing up, but it's sad to see that some people can't seem to follow instructions.

I'm almost afraid of auditioning a GS1000 or RS1, though - it might be very bad for my wallet.

Well I just received some good news from micaela, the GS-1000's arrived in one piece, well packaged, but get this...surprise surprise, the reason oicdn never sent me a tracking number was because he didn't ship properly! Oh and even better folks, the package was resting nicely on micaela's door step. $1000 headphones there for anyone to take. Thankfully she lives in a nice neighbourhood and the weather in her area was nice today.

A signature would have made it impossible for the delivery person to leave the package. A tracking number would have made it possible for both micaela and I to track the parcel and for her to be aware that it was close to being delivered and someone might possibly be around to grab the package.

Seriously...how dense can someone be? Or merely careless ungrateful and outright distrusting. *sigh*

Zanth all I can say is wow..... I wanna try the gs-1000's so badly since I am very seriously considering buying them but I don't make the one year or 500 post rule yet

Yay! I'm the next recipient! Depending on how much time I have before they come, I might have a brand new Millett Hybrid MiniMax to run the GS1Ks through!
