and i shall also go down in history thinking that millett was millet.

I guess cause the spell checker sees millet as correct and millett as incorrect haha.

Shhhhhh .... just want to leak that we are about to discontinue the Desktop Millett---they just don't sell well enough to justify the unique bits in inventory needed. So, Dom, you own a bit of history there, and if you are considering selling it one of these days, you should wait for at least 6 months to a year 'til people fully realize they are gone, and then it should fetch a dandy price
. Jus' sayin'.

OHHH thats awful =( I mean its nice cause im going to have the first one, but sad that no one else will be able to buy one of these gems.

So before you have a garage sale on your extra parts...you can send me all the spares so my Millet #001 will last forever =)

I, Dom, being of sound mind, promise to make sure the original HR Millet goes to a good home.

Maybe Tyll will want a piece of history and trade me for a balanced amp =)

Sheesh! That's almost tempting. You let me know if'n you ever want to let her go, something might be arrainged. No promises, but I'd like first shot at it if/when the time comes.

OMG, you know i want some balanced love....so you let me know =)

Maybe we can work out a deal where i add alittle cash....

You the first up for it when i do decide to sell it...so keep a balanced desktop with HighLife written on it for me.

Well, tyll i have to admit the preamp feature works like a charm. Im soooo glad you put the crossfeed on the preamp also. Really sounds nice on some speakers.

I have it setup right now and this the speaker setup ive wanted. Im going to buy them from Tyrion (Dam you Mike, you always have the kewlest stuff for sale) cause im in love.

Listening to Kind of BLue right now with the crossfeed on and its actually pretty nice...gives a tad lush sound to it, however with the speakers (Cambridge soundworks Model 12) it hardly noticeable.

These are INSANELY accurate for the type of speakers they are....i thought there would going to be the same overall sound, kinda like boxed up highes, flabby uncontrolled bass....OHH baby, these are like velvet smooth....

I have noticed something....not that it really matters that much, but i want to make sure its not a sign...

I have my millett hooked up to a set of speakers via the preamp.

Now, with the millett turned off, there is a low level hum coming from my speakers.

Ok so, firs thing i though....power to the speakers? np, i swapped it into another room via a long extension cord. Ok, so i turn it up, HUMMING STILL.

So...now im using my Laptop via USB DAC into the speakers..no hum at all....then i check my PC sound, no hum again.

So now im thinking it gotta be my amp...so i unplug my amp from the speakers...boom no hum...so im thinking again, must be the amp right...I connect everything back up and turn on the amp and guess what? NO HUM...

Its weird that it hums with the amp turned off, however it doesnt with the amp turned on. Im guessing its some type of conditioning?

Im hoping its not a sign of my power...cause i can turn up my volume on my speakers and NO hum unless the amp is hooked up. So i can rule out my power, i didnt really think it was my power as the house was rewired prior to me moving in.

just wondering something else, it hasnt happened yet...but just wondering...if i put in new tubes and not switch the bias, could it be damaged?

Dom, just sounds like you're getting a ground loop when the amp is in the chain.

And no, I don't think you could do any damage w/ regards to the bias. It's not that fragile.

from my memory of tube radio transmitters and rf amps, tube bias will affect the life of the tube and it's performance. thus the cause for matching tubes so they bias out the same. i dont recall ever tearing up an amps power supply from not correctly biasing tubes.

also the audio tube[s] were never biased upon replacement that i remember. just the output tubes which actually saw heavy loading. i dont think its overly critical in a guitar amp either.

at any rate my guess is only the tube would suffer damage, if anything.

the hum sounds like a ground loop.
