There are multiple locations in the US that can and have pulled off medium to large (50 to 75) member meets regularly, that's going to be hard to compete with as far as momentum goes. Requirement #2 is vendors. Large scale meets cost serious money to put on. I'm betting you'd be hard pressed to assemble the type of man'f support that we can in the US and again I think showing that the community in that area can do a large regional meet would be a good first step towards attracting vendors to an international meet. Is that unfair? I don't feel qualified to judge, but it's my 2ยข.
.
Also, given the current economic climate I think that next year's meet more than ever may need to happen in a region that has a heavy local head-fi population and one that facilitates easy travel for both vendors and members. Even if that means a repeat or similar location.
Ok, I hear you and it sort of makes sense.
Someone down there in central Europe need to arrange a larger Euro meeting. Invite some interesting vendors (Sennheiser, Stax, HeadAmp, RSA, Rudistor, , ...). In short make it worth traveling 2-3000km, crossing 3-4 borders to get there

I am sure there are more like me out there who REALLY would like to attend a meeting. But would like a minimum number of attenders (20-30) before going though all the hassle of crossing borders and traveling long distances.
Too bad I am the only active (relative) Head-Fi'er up here in the north..

I can always hope!

I think Atlanta would be a great location. But I think us locals need one or two more local meets first.

I'm up for any location provided that there is a sufficiently organized/motivated/large local member base to pull it off. Wherever it is i am happy to lend a hand. That said, DC and NYC would be my top choices.

Or Bozeman....Pilgrimage-Fi.

LA has been rather dead lately in terms of big meets, and for the most part, rather apathetic about such things it seems.

Las Vegas, I just don't see it happening. I can't think of a single prominent member from the town. The distractions of the city itself almost seem to be too much, when generally there hasn't been enough time to do everything everyone wants to do, in much more "boring" places.

The Baltimore-DC area seems like a good fit, as there are plenty of members, and more prominent, experienced ones at that who could guide such an event. It is also well located for most on the wrong side of the Mississippi

Chicago, similarly, and it would be interesting to see what could be done with Shure Headquarters in the vicinity.

Seattle seems to have quite a large contingent of active members, and they have larger meets fairly regularly. Drawing in more members from Vancouver and Portland seems like a natural.

A Texas national meet also seems like a good idea. There are quite a few folks in that area who also put on regular medium to large meets. DFW seems like the natural choice, but dang if Austin wouldn't be fun. Especially the Marriott downtown, a stone's throw from 6th Street.

I'm all for making the meet truly international, just so long as it can keep up to the ever improving standards of what these events have been.

I think it's too early for an overseas one like in Europe or Asia.

But, I think the Simultaneous Meets around the world might be a better solution. Although it will dilute the Vendor pool a bit. But I think even this solution is too early. I think there needs to be a large European and/or Asian meet (at least 20 people, preferrably 30) sometime this year to set precedence. And then, it might prove that the non-USA Head-Fi contingent is ready for an International Meet as early as 2010, perhaps.

That would be awesome! I went to a mini-meet hosted by Fitz and a great time it was. I have family in Hot-lanta so ...

I think that DC/MD has serious possibilities as does Chicago.

Wherever it is, I would be glad to help, and regardless of that, I will go no matter where it is (my wife better get her job back before that or I'll be living in the park, using squirrels on a wheel to generate power for my setup).

We could have it in Bora Bora in various huts on stilts in 6' of turquoise water. Everyone would get a raft and you could simply row from hut to hut to demo the gear (audio aerobics).

I loved Riven. Past that the series sucked. I'm enough of a nerd that I read and highly enjoyed the trilogy of Myst books.

How about the Florida Keys?

Not as expensive as Cayman, but its a nice tropical area.

Viper and Philidox need to introduce their skin to that bright fiery ball in the sky called THE SUN!

Seriously you cant tell the difference between their skin and the white on the boards here.

Philodox almost died of heat stroke in NightWounds' car as we went on a beer run. Matt's car had been baking in the sun for a bit, but it was a three minute drive. Jay was moaning in the back seat. We were laughing in the front.
