If we can move the meet to sometime in late July or early August, I think a much larger group will attend. I will certainly be attending this year, with or without gear.

I vote for next year's event to be in Chicago, or DC. I'm sure LA is a good location but there's already been a National Meet in California, I say we keep moving on to other states!

And whenever you guys want a National Meet in Colorado, let me know - I'd definitely be willing to take the initiative to get it done here!

I'd love to have a meet in Colorado! (Anywhere really, but I've never been to Colorado. Love to go there.)

But, sorry, no one will tell you we/they want the meet there. Its up to you to make that happen.

So, has a chicago team stepped up? To my awareness, the only city with a team in place for next year is Los Angeles.

I haven't seen one. I think LA is pretty much a done deal.

Everyone needs to be aware that desire to GO to a canjam in a city doesn't mean that city is prepared to do it. These events take people who REALLY want to do it for it to work.

Amen. The sequence of events here so far is that 3 separate communities have considered the idea of hosting in 2009. grawk proposed DC/Maryland but then deferred to JP11801 and the team he assembled in LA. A few people from Chicago offered that they might be willing to do it -- and might want to contend with LA for 2009 -- but then they too decided they were not quite ready and deferred to JP and the LA crew.

The mere fact that some local or nearby members want to attend a meet in an area doesn't mean much of anything unless there is also a core team ready and willing to do all the work necessary. As of now, the only committed team is in LA and I believe that they already up and running. If you want to be part of the national/international meet, then get yourself to it, wherever it is. It is worth it. If you want to go to meets only in your area, then do that and hope the national/international meet comes within your range. Otherwise, put together a serious team of committed and reliable people, demonstrate that the location has enough membership to be the core attendees, and then put yourselves "in the running," so to speak.

That's a great idea. Then nobody else would have to bring any gear. We' just use Wayne's!

congrats on winning jpnums time for me to start saving up the shiny pennies. now i have 2 reasons for not bringing cash to the meet...1. so that i dont buy gear and 2. so that i dont play poker O.o. oh how i wish i could play again.
