I'm lacking a bit with power tools. The only thing that I can see working is a jig saw. Should I just buy the tool (how much is it), or handcarve it? Or could I use a jig saw.

How much was that tool you used? are they cheap?

Those tools would be a REAL PITA.

Get yourself a drill with good quality hole saws if you want to DIY. If you don't want to DIY (or buy tools) you can ask someone to build you some. I will happily sell you some distancers and so will nickchen or RDS.

They cost 10€ or so, but I needed to exchange them quite often due to bad quality and ironhard tropical woods I build my woodies from. If just distancers out of softer wood are in question, they are sufficient.

Yes, but they can be handled if you are careful. The better tools are ridiculously expensive here in Germany, and they don't provide the dimensions I need for building distancers and woodies.

wait... noob question: What was the tool that you used to cut the hole?

A drill with hole saws?

How did you use the beveled distancer? Were you angling the drivers vertically, or horizontally, like a Stax Sigma?

Been following the thread for a while and finally decided to try it. I'm located in the US and from the looks of it, seems like RDS is the person to contact for distancers? Around how much does it cost? If anybody else is providing the same service, please sound off. Meanwhile, I'll PM rds.

Looking forward

Ummh...that was A900/CD3000ish. The drivers got angled 15° so that they worked a bit more from the front.

Correct procedure.

I have a bunch of distancers that I had made. I want this to be a community project and I'm sure nickchen wanted the same thing.

I have like a bag of them that I will send to someone for free. Whoever wants it must pay for the shipping. Then everyone who wants these can just get them from person "x".

So whoever is interested in supplying these PM me. You need to be reliable so that people who want them can get them.

They don't have the small holes or felt and some of them are slightly taller than the original distancers.

Cool.

I always expected that someone would take over the distancer market, good to see that it's not a Halliburton or snake oil sort of "company".

Nice fatman!
I build some distancers some weeks ago that I sold to head-fiers. Unfortunately I was unaware of head-fi's rules regarding selling things so my thread was removed.
I would still like to build and sell them as I like building them but as my next year is pretty much covered in clouds I have no idea how much spare time I have.

Guess our bestiary will become almost obsolete now, apatN.
