Pioneer se-a1000

Thread Starter
I have just bought this pioneer se-a1000 few days ago. Right out of the box, it sounded really bad (weak bass, distorted midrange and harsh treble). After an hour of break in, the midrange started to smoothen but the rest remained the same. By the way, my player is just an Ipod Video unamped. Until now after 26 hours of break-in, there were still no significant changes and I did not expect these sound. I compared this with my sennheiser px100 and these are the results: weaker bass and lacked depth, midrange is ok but I hate the sibilance it produces and the treble is just so harsh that I have my equalize set to treble reducer so I am already loosing some detail. Soundstage is just relatively the same. Overall the senns sounds more neutral. All of these SQ were contradicting to the few reviews I read which were all positve. The only thing I like is its comfort.
Will it improve with further break-in like with other headphones or is this really the sound signature of the pioneer?
