Are these any good, do they deliver good bass. These phones work well with minidisc and don't need an amp, but are they decent portable phones????

They retail for 79.99 canadian = 49.99 usa

Though better than most of the street style headphones, they are probably mediocre at best. For somethng that costs less, is easily powered and has better bass, look at the Koss Sportapros or KSC 35/50.

Hey, dude, question. Why did you have the Sportapros again? Do you just have a love affair with bad Sony products, and then you realise that the sony products are bad, but you can't bring yourself to believe that a cheaper product from another company would have been a better choice in the first place?

Crapola!!

Yep, I admit to owning a pair of MDR-G82LP's, but honestly both my MDR-ED268LP and my MDR-EX70LP earbuds completely kick the G82's a**!

And, of course, the Koss KSC-50's completely kick the collective asses of EVERY new Sony headphone, but, you know, these things happen, eh?

no, those are the worst headphones I've ever listened to next to that sony w.ear POS and the vertical phones that came with my portable. And no, they won't deliver your bass. Why don't you get one of those $10 Panasonic "monitor" headphones? All they have is boomy mid-bass, I'm sure you'd love it!

It seems sony has lived up to there reputation, just like how all there recievers, cd players(except SACD, for now), etc... are a POS
post #8 of 39
yes, definitely. there are only a few sony headphones that are worth having, and this is not one of them.

Paradigm! Did you get my private message? Also! Have you read what I said about that $300 Sony CD player? Also! Paradigm! Read Apheared's post on the subject! Anything he says overrules what I say!

Gluegun........I told you it wasn't over! With age, comes wisdom.

Joe, I guess you're right. But I'm fairly sure that Paradigm is done with the phones...not the CD player, maybe not an amp, though. But now he got us all arguing theory! And we know where THAT can lead...

Paradigm asks in a thread that's now locked, "What's a duh-m-bass?"

To give you that answer, a "duh-m-bass" is a person who either knows (or cares about) nothing but bass.

Well that's not me. You must understand friend that I am big into dance/techno, so BASS is EXTREMLY important, but it's not everything. What's important is the quality of the sound, something that puts the music in your face(GRADO) well balence, and defiend sound and high quality-powerful-slamming-deep-bass.

I listen to all kinds of music, therefore that means I must purchase differnt phones for a paticular type of music.

Also I posted theis thread cause I wanted some info on these phones cause my friends birthday is comming up, and he needs a good pair of PORTABLE phones. Anyhow I'm thing of getting him the SOny MDR-888LP as they are great ear buds for the price.

Sure, Grados - especially some of the higher-end ones - are the best choice for techno/dance music. However, a 5mW minidisc amp won't deliver full advantage of what those Grados offer!

I know, but I'm buying a new portable CD player that has 10-15mw of power. Also In my entire life I have never seen someone wear grado headphone's outside, probably cause they would look really stupid or un-cool cause of there design, but for me it's all about the sound, I could care less what the thing looks like.
