Low impedance cans - looking for a nice tube amp - Page 2

I am with Rednamalas1 on this one.

The best amp I have for low impedance cans is my Head-Direct EF1, but it is also the most expensive one I have, by far. The old Octavart does a nice job powering easy to drive Grados and Ultrasones. I do not know how it sounds with the Denon headphones you own, but it will definitely makes the Grados sound awfully nice.

EDIT: Skylab made a really good review of it here: http://www.head-fi.org/forums/f5/rev...ne-amp-361841/

I'm selling a new series of OTL Headphone amps in China. It can drive low impedance Cans very well. I had tested with Denon D2000 , AKG-K601/K701 & some high impedance Headphone like HD600/HD650. It even can drive AKG-1000 to Mid high level.(Not very high). It have 14 days trial periode in China. It may be the only Tube Headphone amp with 14days trial periode in China. Any buyer in China can purchase it & return it withthin 14 days.(After received goods).

The Woo Audio 3 has this feature. Do you know number 3?

Yes, good call...the Woo 3 (not the 3+) has a preamp out which would allow you to use it in conjunction with your SS amp. Also, some of the Little Dot amps are great value and performance for the money.

EDIT: didn't see you said you're going Woo6...also very good choice...

I almost wish I had gone with a Woo 6 instead of the Little Dot MKIVse, with the economy bad and all, I had a ping of pain buying a Chinese made amp(but you cant think like that, everything is made in china nowadays ). No offense.

FA1 headphone amplifier is a nice choice althoug it's not a tube. Little dot q is just a toy comparing with FA1.

Low impedance cans usually work better with tube amps which have output transformers, for example, the Woo WA6.

Oh,

Looks like it is a 40 ohm headphone so it would be nice to have a tube amp with an output transformer.

Unfortunately they are not cheap, are they?

I wouldn't mind getting one for my 62 ohm AKGs

Unfortunately...and I'm in Hong Kong where tube amps are either really expensive (and near impossible to buy) or really cheap. I can find nothing in the middle price range. I don't want to use the usual HA-02.

Wow!

I just looked up the Yamamoto HA-02!

Very pretty..............expensive!

Looks like  work of art.

I was wondering if the 339 would go well with a W5000, since HA02 is so expensive

Is that a transformer coupled amp?

I have a 336C which of course is OTL.

I'm not sure, but the designer said that driving the Denons was one of their goals when designing the amps.
