i need an mp3 player to listen outside.. and i do not wanna carry any kind of amp with it..
I've got my eye on a729 and wonder if my esw9 will sound good with it..
if not which mp3 player would be the best...

i have no idea about the a729, but the Cowon D2 and Cowon iAudio 7 both have very powerful internal amplifiers. they can drive these with great ease.

I have somewhat similar combo, so you can use my info as reference. My NW-A828 (A series for Japan market) has no problem driving ATH-ES7 (has lower impedence than ESW9). Voulme level 20 out of 30 is already too loud for me.

thanks for the reply...
for es7.. does bass suffer at all???
does it sound better than when connected to laptop???

i thought d2 might be a good choice but i heard d3 is about to come out so if i ever buy cowon,, i would wait a bit and buy d3..
