I have a Pioneer Dock for my 1st gen nano and I was wondering if I would be able to use that same dock station with the new classic? Is the old connector and and pin out the same as the new classic models?

yes and no
Yes: the pinouts of all the ipods with dock connectors are the same.
No: My dock has a model specific cradle that holds the ipod in place. I keep my 5th gen plastic piece in, and my daughter's 2nd gen nano sits right there. its not snug, but it works.
Obviously, if I put the nano plastic piece in, my 5th gen ipod won't sit in the dock.
