Well with the the adapters available to the singlepower amps doesn't the extreme have the most tube rolling options of the three?

yes, you're right, the adapters, specifically for the output, will definitely make
the extreme just as extensive as the mpx3... i have 3 of mikhails' adapters but
forgot there's like a dozen available...

There are no adapters for output tubes on the Extreme. All the output tubes used in the Extreme have octal sockets and 6sn7 pin outs .... 6AS7G/ 2399/ 5998/ 6080/ 6336/ 6520 /6528. However, you can use any of the gain tube adapters ECC TYPE #1 and 2, 7N7, 2C51/5670 etc....

Are there any thorough impressions of the SE. I've ordered mine a few weeks ago and am waiting to hear from Jack that it's ready. Until then, has anyone received theirs yet, and if so is there a review or would you be willing to share impressions wit headfi?

I'm waiting for mine, too. I ordered it about 10 days ago along with the upgraded parts package. I bought spare pairs of NOS matched 6EW7 and 6DE7 tubes, as well as a NOS 5R4 rectifier in the meantime while I wait. Does anyone here know if all the rectifier choices for the standard "6" are applicable to the forthcoming "6 SE"? I assume so, but I'm not sure if the presence of inductors changes this at all. Any insight would be appreciated. I suppose I could/should ask Jack, too...

yes, every rectifier that works on the stock, maxxed, maxxed/modified PS will
work on the SE version... the inductor/choke is just a super efficient and
preferred replacement for resistors (or caps)... it's for ripple reduction and power
regulation, which it does much better than a resistor which saps the power
and releases it as heat... you'll find this only in highend products due to
expense and size...
