Woo 6 SE a new two chassis offering - Page 3

Got me, I haven't heard it. I have built preamps with directly coupled tubes, which negates the need for the coupling cap and I liked them. I also like good caps, it is all about implementation. I would assume with the larger power supply and new output transformers, they Woo Audio says have a better high frequency response, there should be a different without doubt. Hard to say how much though. I know my 6 modified took quite a jump in sound quality.

I wish I spent more time with the WA6 so I would have a shot at comparing the SE. I've been listening to it for the past two days and love it. I hope to either post some impressions or write a review of the SE before it returns home. The SE will easily hold its own and then some against the other tube amps in it's price range. I will compare it to my Cary SLI-80 this weekend.

Is the SE that Jack lent you a stock SE?

Really looking forward to your impressions Mike. Which headphones will you use with it? If it can handle the K1000 decently as well as Grados with the occasional HD650 this amp could be real good value for me to use with my range of phones.

Tyrion, is the amp that Jack lent you the one that was actually out for listening during CanJam? If so, then it was not a stock WA6 SE. I believe it had some $300-400 worth of upgrades in it, though I cannot remember what they were.

Looking forward to the review!

I'd say the same even for the stock WA6.

Looking forward to others hearing the WA6 SE. As is obvious from CanJam, many are impressed.

The unit at CanJam was awesome. I reserved a stock WA6 SE this week. For those with more technical knowledge and experience, why would I consider coughing up an extra $450 for the modifications? Since I could not A/B a stock vs. modified, it probably would not make much difference to my personal listening pleasure.

I ordered one too, fully upgraded. I just don't want to second guess myself later.

Wow... amazing amp.... even more amazing that it was stock. Ok... time to put some pennies in the Woo fund....

Incredible amp guys...listening to it right now and its very nice, lush sounding, not amp sounding, almost transparent...however it has a nice warmth to it. Bass has impact and extends.

This is a great amp for the money...this one is going to make someone really happy. Lots of power for my 650s.
