Woo 6 SE a new two chassis offering

Here is a new offering soon to add to our choices. This amp uses the same tubes as the Woo 6 but uses a separate power supply, new output transformers for better high frequency performance and direct coupling of the two sections of the 6ED7 or 6EW7, which does away with the need for a coupling capacitor.

The price that I was told will be $950. Got to love the tubes. I also noticed on their website some pretty cool new adjustable head phone stands.

looks nice, and i was looking at the stands. I'm a big fan of the headphile stands as my purple heart one looks awesome but it is pricey, may pick up a woo stand since I'm accumulating a tad too many headphones

doesnt $950 seem kind of steep though? Thats the same price as the WA2 and borderline WA4.

I want one!

$950! Does this begin to compete with any of the beefed up SP MPX3s or Supras? Do you know the typology of the PSU?

On the PS I am not sure but it supposed be a dual type like what I have done with the Woo 6, which has quite an impact on the sound. There are some other changes to the voltage on the tubes. The PS may have in inductor but I am not sure. There is a low and high ohm output for headphones rather than a switch, which is good.

nice... but i think it's gonna take a lot to be better than what your power supply
mod is giving me... and it only cost $50+... having said that, this SE looks
very nice! i'd like to take a look inside...

i doubt this version can compete with the beefed up supras but the beefed up wa6
with the pseudo powersupply mod is on the same level as the beefed up mpx3
slam se...yes, in my ears, the same level.

I think the 6 Modified for what it is will be hard to match. The two box 6 should be there and I assume there will be an inductor in the power supply, which adds up to a beefy current and regulation but I am not sure how much you need. I doubled the caps on the 6 Modified, which lowers the ESR and of course doubles the capacitance and enhances the reduction of ripple, to a degree, so I would be curious to hear the difference. Great stuff I would say.

What is this power supply mod? I've been gone from the headamp site for a longtime. So much has changed!

Sounds like a fun amp. I'd love to hear it someday.

wow. that puts it at the same price as the wooaudio 2...i wonder what the differences are going to be (especially as i just ordered the headphone only 2)

That thing is beautiful. Everyone says the K601 should be matched with a SS, but how can I resist that?

i just inquired about the SE and here's what he said:

The innovation of the SE is a direct coupling, which loose away from the
input caps. There are 2 inductors in the PSU. Several electrolytic caps are
worthwhile for upgrade but we will decide on that soon. Also, you can get a
DACT stepped attenuator for the SE.

A shorter rectifier (5ar ect..) appears more harmonic on the SE. See
attachment. This amp has much more muscle and even drive a K1000
beautifully.

Yeah, it puts out about 1 watt. It does use the pseudo dual power supply for the tubes.

I like the new headphone stands as well.
