Hello all!

I am about to make my purchase on a DAC, I am wondering which one do you guys think out performs the rest?

I keep hearing that the ZERO DAC is the best way to go because it has a built in amp/preamp with it also but I will still get a home amp if I do decide to get the ZERO.

Suggestions please?

seems like the keces are very good sounding dacs.

what headphones? the built in amp on the zero might not be enough.

Yeah, I'm leaning towards a 131 myself. Although I may go with an Oritek modded Zhaolu 2.5A. A bit priceyer, but I hear great things about this DAC. My boss has a 151, and is just loving the hell out of it.

I don’t think there are any members that have heard more than one of these so comparison opinions may be nonexistent. If you don’t plan to buy an amp right away the Zero kind of makes sense. It’s not a high end amp but it’s better than nothing.

OP,
what is your source?
da-151 can only be fed by USB from your computer. it does not have any other input.
if your source is not computer via USB, da-151 is useless for you.

It will definitely be my computer and later be my new laptop. Thanks for the concern though!

Woha, didn't expect to see a post like this here so quickly.

Let me just say that yes DA-151 sounds quite nice, but 131 does have a few advantage that makes it superior to DA-151 in similar configuration. :P Like a lot of other manufacturer says, NO CAPS in the signal path. That's the advantage of DA-131's audio chip, and that with other additional tuning makes it better than 151.

With that said, I guess I can't comment on how it compares to the other two, since I don't have a chance of trying them out myself.

I have the Keces 151 but its my first dac so I can't make a comparison. You can get the 131 if your computer or existing soundcard has an optical out. Currently waiting for my iqube so that I can use it with my DT880's. The Keces is a decent $300 dac but if you can afford it, do try the Citypulse.

I haven't seen much about the citypulse, but I'm very curious. Are you a big fan?

People on the Zero forum have compared the Zero to the apogee duet and preferred it! so that give you an idea. it can also drive any headphone other than the k1000s, although i don't know if anyone has tried.

but Yeah a comparison with these others would be good.
