It´s time to revive this topic!

I received my RE1 yesterday and I was not impressed ...

Setup: Cowon J3 + Ibasso P3+

The sound is muffled and warm, the bass are not powerful or even compelling, however, mess with mid frequencies. The highs are recessed and, in some passages, sounding strident. The tone of the phone is pulled to the dark side and, even mixing in the equalization of my Cowon, I could not make it more natural, without messing with the treble.
The definition, as the whole, does not impress.

What I find essential in a phone is its soundstage and imaging and they, in Head-Direct RE1, travels between the absence and misrepresentation.

How so well recommended phone can play to me this way? The solution would be the burn-in, although I feel that this process does not alter the "soul" of the phone, just "trim the edges"?

Peace to everyone,

Peter

I hope that they will open up after some burning in because I just got them and for now I feel that they are a waste of money... :(

They sound like a very very good telephone speaker... :(
