It's the "new" ER-4P. The cable still sucks. It's heavy, too long, overly microphonic, the wires leading to the driver pods are flimsy, and has that huge barrel break where the resistors are.

I am going to replace it with a DIY one as soon as I can find sufficiently thin, flexible and strong wire, terminate it with a 1/8" Switchcraft plug and stick the 25ohm resistors within.

Sweet, i had an Mrobe, got it for around £90 with a velour case, puch, and the normal stuff... The micro HDD broke, got it repaired, but they broke the touch screen panel lights, they now only come on when you push hard. Read something about a pressure sensor on the screen and touch pad, took it apart, and the screen woulnt come on when i put it back together, then the light came on, then text as i screwed the top of the board back on to the face harder... Cant get the whole board off the front, so cant see the mechanism, so i think i missed a screw, which if tightened should trip the pressure sensor and turn the led's back on. Sold it to my sister a year ago after having it for a year or two after my first cheap jap players, utter crap quality.

Recently rockboxed it, found it harder to use.

Nice player though

Maybe the micro hdd could be replaced with a higher capacity and/or SD/CF card? Should work fine especially with rockbox.

EDIT: Jude how are the Dr D's? They must be good if you're using them with that gear I thought, Dr Dre, "fart cannons"...

Wow... I thought they weren't out yet. How do they sound? Oh and nice picture, I love how the light reflects of the headphones

I'd also love to know how the Monster headphones sound...

@ jude

What's the deal with the build in amp on those dr dre's beats. And what's underneath that iPod? Not an amp I reckon! And what's the deal with that big gold jack on the side? Any how, that headphone looks extremely gorgeous

There's an unboxing video @ Unboxing Live 038: Monster Beats by Dr. Dre Headphones | Unboxing but nothing really about the sound quality itself.
