How bad/detracting and/or sensitive are the microphonics with this product? Can it be gotten round? I'm on the fence but bad and stubborn microphonics would defo be a deal breaker for me!

I thought they had the worst microphonics I ever heard. If you check out the Klipsch thread you'll see some people thought it was OK, and others complained like hell! I can tolerate cable noise to a large extent, but I couldn't stand the noise coming from the Image.

The reason for my asking was that I had encountered a fair sprinkling of criticisms of this concernig the klipsch and do remember one person being distinctly apalled ala yourself, probably! Do you know any ways of killing or reducing microphonics? Anyone else for that matter?

I killed the microphonics by returning them!
I think there were a couple of others (apart from me), in the same thread who also thought the noise was unbearable. Of course it depends on how sensitive you are to it, but I'm sure other people will be along with some tips on how to reduce it.
They are mega comfortable though, you can hardly feel they're in. They're probably the most comfortable iems I've ever used.

Just look at the design. they are identical to the ER-4p and that is known for microphinics!

Good one!. Yer, it was the comfort and ease of seal ppl wer reporting, along with some aspects of the sound signature, what was appealing to me. Just hoping there was a way around the microphonics. Not to worry. Still got my eye on the SA6's which are recieving much appraisal! Just need to clarify what respsonibilties and/or risks i'm undertaking if i have em imported. Any iem models you personally endorse?

Yet more weight to what I was hoping against! Oh well. SA6's look enticing! Cheers for that tho, helpful info. U know any ways of reducing microphonics (likely considerably in this case)? Shirt clips for the headphone leads?

Out of all the ones I've tried, I only kept the Denons since I found them the best overall for my listening preferences. I'm also getting the C551s as they have more bass (and my other half pinched my previous ones).

Did you read any of the C551 threads? Nothing bad has been said about them, so they're a good choice, and really affordable if you can get them from Amazon.com.

Unless you meant traditional iems like the Etymotics and Shures??

I am relatively new to iems and, to be honest, am venturing into exploring sound more deeply/more in an audophile sense for the first time, but, I've got a good sense of it all me thinks and have picked up alot of the technical terms and jargon and gleaned an understanding of the technolgies and market etc etc. So.... Not sure why you refer to etymotic and shure as ''traditional''- are denon not strictly iem's?/ i may have read somewhere they are canal phones but not iems, but i personally dont know the distinction between such headphone types. I have pretty much digested the whole market and read as many reviews/impressions and comparisons as I could (reasonably easily) find on head-fi. From this I ended up at the klipsch images and sa6's as the two left to pick from. I had considered atrios (m5/m8's), triple fi's, custom 3's, q-jays, westone um2's and denons (c700/751's) and, although I havnt looked into the shures or etymotics specifically, I picked up throughpout my reading that the ety's had been around a while, where thin, sound wise and they also looked very bland. Due to this and with all the choice I kind of dismissed them pretty early on; I dismissed the shure range earl too cos of the abundance of choice but also cos I had read on amazon, i think, that they were prone to leads cracking and not being too durable. I have picked up on echoes of this at head-fi too concerning shure lead durability. So, ironically, these would be the two iem manufacturer's product lines I aint really considered too heavily. May check out a bit more directly!
