ER4-P vs SA6 vs q-Jays! Comparison and impression Review (Very Lengthy) - Page 2

The ports are for the bass that go in the back of the body, the treble uses a tube that goes in the front which your tip then goes on. It's a combination of the two that you can tweak to your preference. Usually most people tend to just find a combination that they like and go with that.

Enero said everything. I don't carry my ports with me.

I am settled and happy with treble+ port and bass +port.

It's like you are having phone that is already great without tuning but you can assemble those ports to your taste, based on your preferences like genre of music that you listen to so you can find a sweet spot.

For more detailed description of the phone you can check sleek's website or this great pictorial review made by head-fi member "Clieos". Click the link below.

Review

I thought that this was a pretty good review. I am familiar with the Sleek and the Ety but not the Jays Q-Jay. Thanks, Joy, you have Energized me

i have bought the Q-jays - my first expensive phones
stay away from them - they have WAY too much treble - its really scratching my ears...
i thought it was because the source was crappy - so I found some lossless .flac files to listen too. My ears are bleeding I think i'll never buy expensive phones ever again... wasted money.

A piece of advise: Try the foam tips if you haven't done so

Insert the q-JAYS really deep in your ears with foam tips and the treble will decrease noticeably.

I tried the Q-jays with the foam tips - it decreased the treble but it still is a bit tiring - definatly better though, just not perfect.
Another thing is that foam tips are like 10x more comfortable need to buy more of them. Seriously! Why don't they make all the tips with that material? I only got 2 foam tips and like 14 rubber ones

thanks for the advice - maybe they need some burn-in too?

Maybe not burn-in, but you could look at how your MP3 bit rate, and quality of source or amp, is affecting the sound as well.

Try this and maybe you won't need to buy more foam tips in a long time.

could they have some kind of fault?
cuz I am used to like 5$ phones and those sound ok, though not so detailed and not such a nice-tight bass like the qjays. But they had no sssssssssssssssssss on them, I could listen to those for hours.

It is not a fault, but a sound signature. We call it sounding 'sibilant'.

My guess is, you are not an analytical listener. From now on, you should be looking for 'smooth sounding' or 'sibilant-less' headphone just to be safe.
