Skullcandy is not a very good headphone maker.....don't buy those.

Depends what you are comparing to? lol

I'm new here too... but my overall impression is that Skullcandy has distorted bass

I would suggest buying a JVC Marshmallow with mods at that price range

Any pro comments?

Depends on who you ask on Head-fi. The people who have heard the smokin' buds and who catch them on sale say they are better than the respected JVC HA-FX33/34 "Marshmallows".

Most would say that they're not worth the $20, but at $15 they're decent. I will say that I've never heard them, so I have no opinion one way or another.

From what I've read, Shure foam tips. I've read taking out the paper filter too.

Haven't tried neither of these (I have a pair), but will probably try out the foam tip.

I can defend bose products...Much harder to defend skullcandy products

Must they be IEM? or Buds?

I would suggest the KSC75s from Ratshack for like 14.99

Will beat the pants off anything recommended so far.

Ok, I've owned a pair of Smokin' Buds for about 10 months. As of today, the right speaker no longer works. My experience with them were decent until they stopped working today all of a sudden. As people have said previously, the bass is distorted somewhat. I'm no audiophile, but the bass I got from my music were not completely satisfactory.

But hey, you get what you paid for, I paid 24 bucks for this pair and I'm not surprised they chose to crap out on me today. Thinking about goin towards a JVC myself.

If your gona go with skullcandy I would recommend the INK'D ones over the one you posted. Theyre cheaper plus they have better bass than the smokin buds. Ive tried them both.
