FS: Grado HP1000/HP2 APureSound V3-balanced

7/10/08 - SOLD

After some further listening and re-contemplation, these are being re-listed for sale.

$1750 shipped FIRM within the USA. Add $5 for Canada only, I will not ship to any other countries. I will accept money order and personal check within the USA, in addition to PayPal. If paying by PayPal, I will accept payment only via e-check (no credit cards or instant transfers). I will give priority to USA residents over Canada residents. This unit has had the APureSound V3 XLR cable installed on it in an 8' length with Neutrik connectors, with the Super Nylon option (a $310 value).

I paid a total ~$1845 for these headphones and to get them re-cabled so I am taking a slight loss at my asking price.

I happen to still have my two pairs of Audio-Technica stock headphone cables from my now-recabled AD2000 and W5000 and can give a discount down to $1500 shipped FIRM (within USA only) if you want either of them installed by [AK]Zip. The AD2000 cable is terminated to a 3.5mm mini-plug (AT's matching 1/4" screw-on adapter included), and the W5000 cable is terminated to a 1/4" plug. Both are dual-entry hardwire. The W5000's cable feels slightly different than the AD2000's and may be higher-grade but of course I can't say for certain. They are not for sale individually, I am only offering them for anyone who might be interested in reverting this HP2 to single-ended without paying extra for an aftermarket single-ended cable.

The lettering is completely gone but this unit can be verified as a genuine Grado HP1000/HP2 by fkclo who previously owned them, or [AK]Zip who's worked on this unit twice (the first time restoring it to condition and installing his V2 cable, the second time installing the current V3 XLR cable).

I do not have the original box but a nice foam-lined hard-plastic carrying case is included.

I reserve the right to pick the buyer of these headphones depending on how many PMs I receive. Sale will be final, I will not take a return for any reason.

Buy with confidence - my 100% positive feedback is linked in my sig and the many Head-Fiers I've met at meets can hopefully speak for me. Feel free to also thoroughly investigate my post history.

I will be attending the upcoming June 28th meet in the SF Bay Area and will have these there so they can be picked up at the meet if attending.

PM sent Asr. However I'd be glad if you keep them. Very nice cans indeed, and if they sounded as I suspect, I wouldn't be selling them either.

Those cans must be awesome! I bet they are much better then the (balanced) Ultrasone Ed. 9!

Are those cans much better then a Grado GS1000 balanced?
They look awesome, but I really don't know how they sound. I haven't found a review of those cans also.
I love Grado headphones very much

In my opinion the HP-2 is a much better phone than the GS1000, in terms of neutrality and transparency.

The HP-2 matched with a good amp (in my case a EAR HP-4 and a Rudistor RP010B) can sound heavenly.

The GS1000 by comparison feel distorted, coloured, and unreal. Of course, it is a matter of relativity, and not to discount that the GS1000 is not a bad pair of cans by any means.

An a free pump to a great pair of cans, and a very attractive offer.

Finally I had the opportunity to "win" a Hp-2! You can read more about my opinion on a balanced Gs1000 vs an unbalanced Hp-2 http://www.head-fi.org/forums/f4/my-...hp-2-a-361019/
