Kool!!!

Please also throw in which pair brings you closer to the stage (more intimate?) or farther (laidback?). Also hoping no pair has microphonics issues. Triple thanks.

Hiya,

I cannot comment on microphonics (something to add lol), but for soundstage - I will say that the E5x0s are the nearest to the stage, a row or two behind are the UE TF10s, and two rows behind them are the EX700s... Not a huge amount in it, but the Sonys (I guess, being a semi-open design) are definitely 'airier' than the other two...

In terms of cans to rock with... The TF10 win this by a whisker, then the EX700s, then bringing up the rear are the SE5x0, whose lusher composition definitely lends itself more to Jazz etc...

[Edit: - Those two paragraphs almost contradict themselves, but - it is how it is... is an odd one!!]

Hope it helps

Perfectly clear, Duncan. You're very honest and fair with your ranking putting the Triple in number 1. Because of risk comfort, I might move in on the Sonys for now. Looking forward to more of your thoughts though only whenever you can.

Can someone please post pics of how these look when in your ear? I'm assuming you can't sleep on your side with them?

Also, what ear tips fit these? Do the Shure Olive's? What about Comply's?

I can sleep with them but they aren't the most comfortable IEM to sleep with.
The Shure olives fit if you stretch them:

Here is how it looks when wearing them:

Sorry about my ugly face...

Jabada, can you wear it by pointing the cable up like Shure?

I wanna know how it sound comparing with the regular wearing. Also, pics would be great.

Yes, you can wear them with the cables over the ear (I didn't know until last week), but I prefer to wear them in regular mode because of the j-cord (too much weight in the left and no weigth in the right). Sound seems pretty the same in both styles. Just make sure to have a good seal.
Here is the pic:

I am also using the ER4 shirt clip in my SL version.

Thanks Jabada. As I feared, they don't look like they fit nearly as comfortably as the SE530's. If only they had a similar design, I'd have jumped at them. They appear to extrude slightly, whereas my SE530's sit flush with my ear, and take the shape on my contours near custom like.

It's very strange seeing Sony up there with the best of them, with these and with the MDR-R10's. Sony really have some top audio gear, it's a shame they aren't as recognised for it. I always thought they only catered for the mass consumer low-fi market. Little did I know! I'm so temped to pick up one of these EX700LP's! £200 is not a bad entry price for the quality at all.

They definitely are good, so long as you can handle the fact that they don't isolate as well as the big two...

Yes, the E500 are really confortable (I almost got them), but I like a lot the EX700 confort too, specially with the Shure olives.
In my ears the olives give a bit more isolation than the stock tips or those Shure clear flex.
Next time I'll try some Comply.

Can someone compare the EX700 to the EX90? Is it really similar?
Thanks!

Hiya,

To me they are quite different, to the point that I gave away (literally!) the EX90s I had... That isn't to say that the EX90s are bad, they're not - just that the EX700s are that much better IMHO...
