I installed it earlier today and have been tweaking the acoustics for a few hours... I think i got it setup pretty good using these DSPs:

Advanced Limiter
Resampler
Equalizer - currently using a preset i found online called "premaster"
Convolver plugin - currently using SPL GoldMike Impulse.wav & JoeMeek Sc2 High Ratio.wav

That's what the eq looks like, I'd like to tweak it slightly but i don't know where do start -- if someone could gimme just a brief summary of what the different frequency ranges affect that'd be much appreciated.

I need to make the drums punchier, the bass sounds pretty good right now -- maybe a slight bit more, crisp'en up the vocals a tiny bit but overall the balance is sounding pretty good to me.

I'm using an amp + sennheiser hd600s... the main thing lacking right now is the punchyness of the drums, but otherwise I'm glad i switched from winamp to foobar.

Why not just listen to music while tweaking things and see what the effects are? That's the best way to get an idea of what the various EQ bands affect.

Or just buy headphones that have the frequency balance you prefer.

This should help:

What's in your Music

I'm curious as to what makes you happier with foobar2000 than winamp. I myself am an avid foobar user, but I have also used winamp and, utilizing the same output devices (eg. KS, ASIO), there should theoretically be no difference in the audio output quality. My actual experience would tend to support this.

I love foobar speed, customization, and memory use.

Not everyone.
Some use iTunes (like me), and others use WinAmp, ...

I don't use EQ at all. If something doesn't sound right, it's a problem with the equipment or recording.

yeah exactly, the sound card is **** on this machine, so i'm making it sound the best i can...

thanks everyone who gave me suggestions -- i'm heading out for a bit, will come back and read it in a bit
