I wonder how it compares to a low-end PIMETA?

You have not heard either then? You sounded so sure that I thought you had compared them yourself.

I compared nothing from HeadRoom to the Head Box II. But I built some amps for myself some time ago using the AD8397 and they surely sounded better than Headbox. I shared a design to another forum for a 2x AD8397 based pocket amp and a guy who built it compared it to the HB. The pocket amp sounded better and I wasn't surprised.

Sonically this amps sucks and any decent portable amp will beat it. Plus you get portability. Properly built mini3 or the like will sound better.

Frankly, just saying that it sucks is about as useful as saying nothing at all. Care to elaborate?

Just heard this amp over the weekend at a local store. It certainly does not suck.In fact it is very clean, detailed and natural.Great treble! You could do alot worse at that price. The only thing that was missing was bass impact.Other then that i think it has a lot of potential.

Anyone has this amp and the MF V-can. How do they compare in build quality?
EDIT: And how is the potentiometer quality? Does the volume go up very high, or it is easily set to one's preference?

Hi,

You can see somme reviews here :

And see that the Pro-Ject Head Box MKII has 5 stars, whereas the SEII has 3.

I have the MKII, and I think that the sound is very good, but if you don't want a too loud sound, you don't have to use a headphone whith a to higt sensibility.

For exemple, a bit too hight for me whith my SONY MDR-CD3000, but good with my other headphones (Ultrasone PROline 750, my Beyerdynamic DT 880 2005 Edition, or my Koss MV1)

SO how would something like the SE II versus the MKII power something like the Senn HD 598 or HD 600?

Well I used it with my hd600 before selling it, and it sounded great to me
