ok my 3rd mic mod and my best. a detachable mic and a headphone extension cable, some zip ties and:




ok i found some cheap parts at dealextreme.com. i ordered these for 5.00 total
DealExtreme: $3.03 Hyundai Soft-Neck Laptop Microphone
DealExtreme: $1.60 3.5mm Audio Extension Cable (1.5M)

now the mic has a 90 degree bend at the plug and u might need 2 extension cables. i tried them and they work fine. u have to get your own zip ties though. this could be done on most headphones that have clearance enough on the yokes for a zip tie

looks ALOT better then mine(im just happy it works)my mic came from a donor headphone so i made a quite mess..want to post a picture but all headfiers will point and laugh and i dont want to steel the show

the mic came from a cyber acoustic ac-208 headset- got it for 5.00 out of the open box bin at bestbuy

I've tried clip-on mics in the past (though not the Zalman) and found the quality lacking. I've heard both good and bad things about the Zalmans, though my previous experience with clip-ons have made me gun shy. When I wear a clip-on mic, I always feel like I have to tilt my head and talk into it in order to be heard.

I've always had good voice quality via boom mics, however. They allow me to forget they're even there, and just talk normally.

That's why I like this mod. The fact that the mic is removeable is a bonus.

I wonder if you can connect the mic at the 6 o'clock position instead of at the 9 o'clock position. That way you wouldn't have to snake the mic cable around the cup...?

u could attach it to the cord at the bottom of the cup but i didnt want to strain the headphones cord. one could velcro or even attach a bracket with tiny screws. OR maybe take the cup apart and snake a zip tie into there!
i have a zalman mic also- but i wanted a unidirectional boom mic

I'll be sure to post up my mic mod as soon as the 770's get in. I'm thinking to take advantage of the 90 degree bend so you'll have to wait and see . It'll be simple and removable so you guys should be interested!

those look awrsoem so how do u get them to work with xbox,

none of miy usb device seem to work with xbx


also can u just hook those up to the astro mix amo,, and what adapter would u need for this?

alsowhat are some compettion to the beyer's'

how could i mod some denon 7000 to have a mic? if possible
