SOLD: Grado SR100 w/ HP-1 Drivers + Liberators [NEW PICS]

SOLD

For those considering other "high end" headphones at a similar price range, these are easily 90-95% of the way to the elusive HP-2 which you won't find at any lower price.

What I'm offering is my Joe Grado SR100. It has some pretty special things that come along with it...

First of all, it's the red lettered edition, and I know looks aren't everything, but they certainly look way better than the Grados with silver paint, not to mention they aren't made in this color anymore, much like the old RS-1s that came with the golden letters on the side. It has the standard Joe headband which imo is way comfier.

On top of that, it actually happens to have HP drivers in it... take a look:

Jahn confirmed that these are in fact the drivers I'm referring to.

Also included in the sale are lots of goodies.

You get three pads, TTVJ Flats, Bowls, and HD414 pads (modded) as well as my pair of Grado liberators. I'm pretty sure those are also no longer in production. Not only that, but you also get the Grado SR325 aluminum cups as well as the red letter SR100 ones, which are 100% swappable, no glue or any tools needed except fingers. The entire headphone is in beautiful condition, all the paint is fine (except one minor spot on the R side top, slighty faded), the cable isn't twisted or crimped at the Y, the cable itself is the Grado Signature Laboratory Standard Audio Cable complete with old fashion Joe Grado JG logo. The headband shows no sign of wear or over-bending.

Also, something to note with the SR100 cups. On a few parts it looks like it has been chipped or melted, I'm pretty sure it was just how they came out of the mold seeing as they have these minor blemshes on the exact same spots of both cups.

When I first got these, I was immediately impressed with the sound (which in turn made me sell my RS-1 almost immediately), and upon my several pads, liberators (which REALLY helped give it great soundstage and overall smoothed out the signature), and cups, I believe I have improved upon my original impressions. These bad boys are very detailed, clear, and in fact, contain some of the best bass from a Grado I've heard. What I really liked about this pair was their versatility. Everything sounds wonderful on them. I listen to a wide variety of genres from your standard classic rock to rap, electronic (anything from drum n bass to ambient), to jazz and beyond. I've never felt unsatisfied with any of the music I've listened to with these. These are as close to an HP series Grado as you can get without buying the real deal.

I originally planned to sell these to fund a new hobby, but now I need it more than ever to take care of some debts.

I really appreciate your interest in my cans. <3

A couple key points I forgot to mention (excuse the bump, but I was afraid that if I just edited my post they'd be overlooked):

I'm not the original owner, although the person I bought them from (eBay) claimed he was. Considering the condition they've been kept in, I do not doubt this.

I've had these for about a year now, and like I said, I am only willing to part with them to fund some gear I need for a new hobby.

And yes, this thread also correlates to this one as well:

If you happen to have one or know someone with one, I would trade without hesitation.

Thanks again for looking. =)

Is that a leather headband I see on those?

How snug are the SR325 metals cups?

What effect do the metal cups have on the sound in terms of bass, mids, highs, warmth or other coloration changes?

Which pads sound best, assuming you like the metal cups and liberators with them more? i.e. are flats with liberators better than bowls without liberators, in terms of bass vs soundstage?

Hey there, yes, the headband is in fact leather.

The metal cups stay on pretty nicely, to be honest. If for some reason they come loose, they pop right back on and with a little tapping of the little metal bars on the holders will hold them nice and tight.

Honestly, the metal cups helped out a whole ton. HP-1 drivers were tuned with metal cups in mind, so putting them in the proper housing really helps with the signature. You'd think putting them in metal would make them brighter, but thanks to the liberators and flats it helps soften it and increase the soundstage. Both bowls and flats are really comfy on the liberators. I personally like the flats over the bowls for the added bass. The soundstage is still improved thanks to the larger cups and liberators.

BUMP for needing to sell these. I will consider lower prices at the cost of removing liberators and flats from the deal.
