Sansa Clip + Yuin PK1 - Page 2

the pk1 do sound good from a portable but do sound better with an amp. but, crap? they sound very good and are powered well at about 50% volume on an ipod. clip? have no idea.

the were wonderful but with a bit of a home amp use, they get heaps of bass. not that i really need that bass

Just checked my new Sansa Clip with PK1 and found that they work pretty well together, much better than PK1 + Shuffle, which combo is unacceptable to my ears. iPod Classic or Nano + PK1 sound better but not a lot. It looks like:

PK1 + amp = 100%
PK1 + iPod Classic or Nano = 70%
PK1 + Clip = 55%
PK1 + Shuffle = 33%

So:
  • If you want to use your earbuds with Clip and with something more powerfull also (PC, f.e.) - go PK1 or OK1.
  • If you want to use it with Clip exlusively then you may also consider OK2. This will suit better if you like your music loud (which is harmful, BTW). I doubt that OK2 will surpass PK1 with Clip in terms of sheer SQ.
  • I recommend NOT to restrict yourself to PK2, because Clip drives better earbuds well.
PS: I do not know when OK1 and OK2 will be available.

I just compared OK2 + Clip vs PK1 + Clip. I like PK1 more but I see how people with different music taste may prefer OK2. Underamped PK1 sounds slow in comparison, so metal lovers may prefer OK2.

Maybe use the sansa clip with the pk1 and a Lisa lll ?

Ok,Ok...LOL........maybe that little tiny Xin amp in the plastic case, that little micro thingy.
I dont know what else is that tiny.

Sansa Clip is able to move the PK1s quite reasonably. IMHO.

I think the pk1 still sounds great even unamped. I play mine sometimes through my brothers ipod nano and it still kills any of the other cheap earbuds he has. Of course it sounds much much better out of my minibox e+ but it's no slouch without it either.

You sure? Cus I've owned both PK1 and PK3 and absolutely agree with him.

UNAMPED, the PK1 sounds VERY similar to the PK3... it's when you amp the PK1 that they reach a higher level of sonic quality.

But like I said, if you plan on using them unamped, the PK3 sounds probably 90% as good as the PK1.

My Clip has 300-400hrs on it; my PK1's 70-80hrs. Out of the box, they sounded both muddy and just slightly edgy with the Clip but now the combo is easily ballpark if not better than my home amp which is an "audiophile" clone version of the NAD 3020, fed with ASIO4ALL through MF V-DAC.

At this point the one really standout note I've taken is that my old Koss Porta Pro's sound better than the PK1's with analogue, and vice versa; the PK1's excel with lushing up the digital. Not much surprise perhaps, and clear to these ears that the former was tuned for the 80's (analogue; specifically tapes) and the latter for the 00's. Maybe new Koss PP's are tuned differently? Mine are from the 90's and while pretty good, they're not in the same race as the PK1 out of the Clip.

It seems AMP3 match PK1 perfect for it have a built in individual amplifier!

here are the thread on this paring:

Sasaky reported as :Yes, as long as I use PK1, AMP3 is audio heaven.
