Equipment audition requests

Thread Starter
I have searched the equipment being brought but no luck so far on these.

Denon D2000 & D5000
Audio Technica ESW9, W1000, W5000

any other high end closed phones.

If someone could bring any of these, I would appreciate hooking up with you to try them out before I plunk my money down on a set of closed phones.

Thanks

I'll have the ESW9s there. Do R10s count? There will mostly likely be a few around. I don't know of anyone who had the Denons who still has them, and same with the Audio Technicas, though agile_one might still have the W2002s.

I'd like to put in a request... I'd like to use my DAC301's balanced outs with either a balanced b22 or dynamight and my HD580s if there's any in attendance.

I'd like to hear the following:

Zana Deux (balanced if possible)
Lavry DA10
A vinyl rig
As many 'stats as possible (and a Blue Hawaii)
K2 HD CDs
Manley SkipJack

I'm pretty sure you will hear a DA10, a ZD and a bunch of stats. I contacted Manley about coming to CanJam but they had something else going that weekend. They were supposed to speak to Todd (TTVJ) about bringing some of their gear. I will contact Todd to see if he can get a SkipJack and one of the Manley preamps with a headphone out.

Sorry, I don't have any of those wussy cans

But I can offer a listen to a nice pair of ATH W2002, and I'm sure some of those inferior models you mentioned above will be present, as well as numerous ATH L3000s, Sony R10s, and anything else anyone has ever dreamed of or lusted after.

Apologies for the jibe, but my point is that most anything you can imagine will be at CanJam '08. This is the time and place where the headphone world will coalesce (sorry for the geek term) for a two day span in the time/space continuum.

Despite the total lack of love for the D5's, I still have and love mine. They will be with me at the dance . Brainsalad, we'll hook up.

I would have listed the iQube but I see that Moon Audio will be there, nice!

I'm pretty sure that Guss2 will have his HE90 and Aristaeus amp at the meet. No hug necessary. Not that there is anything wrong with that.

Request from moi: Phono preamp, something under $500 or so, to let me know if my CIAudio can be killed in that price range. Tyrion, you may know something about that having owned one yourself. If you or John have any recommendations let me have 'em. I'm perfectly happy to stay with the Channel Islands if going better means spending a lot more money.

Maybe the new Eddie Current stage will be done? I remember John raving about that one, and the price didn't really phase me at the time but I don't remember what it was. If he's going to have one ready I'd love to hear it at The Jam.

Not really the place to ask this I suppose, but can I ask if you've heard the LP12 at all, at any time? The Sondek is the first truly hi-fi source I ever got a chance to spend any real time with (old bandmate had a '70s model). Wonderful, wonderful stuff and piqued my interest in vinyl very early on.

But I'm surprised you've never heard one! It's so iconic! Anyway, my actual question is whether or not anyone can comment as to whether the revisions over the years have made any substantial changes to its sound. Vintage models go for reasonable prices compared to modern issues and it really makes me wonder if they can compete with what Linn presents at retail nowadays.

I've also thought that a K701 trial on my rig is a top request for CanJam!
