do they really make that big of a difference? would a Hi-OFC cable make a big difference to the sound quality? what about gold miniplugs vs stainless steel ones?

Hi asdfeproiu9

I've moved your thread over to the cables / tweaks forum...

Hopefully someone will pick it up from here for you

the Oxygen Free Copper does make an improvement to the sound, and to squeeze the last 5% out of your kit, the gold plated plugs are a good bet, they don't really cost much more. That said, you're already into diminishing returns territory when you get onto cables and plugs, unless the stuff you've got just now is really cheapy!

As far as i know, there are no OFC mini plugs. All of them, as far as i know use brass, or brass alloys of some sorts. Also, the stainless steel plates, are infact, nickel plates. With that out of the way, i'll explain futher.

There is no audiable difference between gold plating, and other plates, assuming that they're correctly applied. Now, why is there such a high demand for gold? the main advantage of gold, in that in theory, it doesn't oxidize, which should lead to better connections, which it does. Nickel plated plugs will begin to get tarnished over time, which will eventually lead to more clicks and pops in your music. Of course, many would argue that the act of plugging in and removing the plug should be enough to clear the oxidates off of the plug, however, on a mini plug, i would suspect it would be a more substantial issue than on a 1/4 inch phono plug.

So, use gold if you want to, it will age less over time, however, it will not be audiable better in any way, shape, or form
